David Goffen is a famous Belgian tennis player, winner of several ATP tournaments. As part of his team became a finalist of the Davis Cup.
David Goffen was born in December 1990 in the Belgian city of Liege. For the first time he picked up a tennis racket at the age of six. The first coach of Goffen was his father Michelle.
From an early age young David showed histalent. Despite the fact that he could not regularly win in junior tournaments, the Belgian soon entered the top ten of the world's youngest tennis players.
In 2008, David Goffin receives the firstvictory. In September, he wins the tournament series ITF Futures in Greek Kefallinia. In 2010, he becomes the best at such tournaments in Remberberg and Eipen (Germany), as well as in French San Dizier. A year later, the Belgian again becomes the winner of ITF Futures competitions in La Roche-sur-Yon and Rodez.
In the "adult" tennis, David Goffen made his debut in2011. By the time his rating allowed to participate in the qualifying matches of ATP tournaments. But the victories in them for the Belgian were ahead, and his skills he honed in competitions under the aegis of ATP Challenger.
In 2012, David Goffen wins the tournament inLe Gosier (Guadeloupe) and Orleans (France). He also makes his debut in the main draw of "Roland Garros", where in the first round sensationally defeated Czech Radek Stepanek, who plays at number 23. At that tournament, he reached the fourth round, where he lost to Roger Federer. Thanks to the successful performance in France in world tennis, the rating of the player Goffen David quickly rose to 46th place.
The following year, the Belgian figures camesome recession. Often, he could not go beyond the first round of ATP competitions, so he decided to return to the Challenger series. Here he won the tournament in the Turkish Eskisehir. But already in September, a big trouble happened: during the training, David Goffen broke his wrist.
Back on the courts in early 2014, the Belgianimmediately began to win back lost positions. In July, within three weeks, he won in three "Challengers": in Scheveningen (Holland), Poznan (Poland) and Tampere (Finland).
Two weeks later, David Goffen first becamethe best in the tournament series ATP 250 in Austrian Kitzbühel. In September, he won at such competitions in the French Metz, and also reached the final in Basel. By results of the year he became the 22nd racket of the world.
The following two years differed for Goffenlocal victories without new titles. He reached the final of the ATP 250 and ATP 500 tournaments three times, and also made his way to the fourth round of Wimbildon and to the quarter-finals on the courts of Roland Garros.
2017 was a breakthrough for the Belgiantennis player. In February, he reached the final twice - in Sofia and Rotterdam. At the US Open, David Goffen made his way to the 4th round, and in Australia - to the quarter-finals.
In October the Belgian defeated the UkrainianAlexander Dolgopolov in the final tournament ATP 250 in Chinese Shenzhen. A week later was the best on hard courts in Tokyo. These victories allowed him to enter the top ten tennis players in the world ranking.
In 2012, David Goffen was first invitedrepresent Belgium in the Davis Cup. With his help, the team managed to return to the World Group and firmly entrenched there. In 2015 the Belgians managed to break into the final of the tournament, where they lost to the British tennis players.
In 2012, Goffen also became a participant in the Olympic Games in London. Unfortunately, he could not go beyond the first round of the competition.
