History of the Institute
The history of this institution begins withcorresponding to the Decree of Ministers of the USSR of 1967. The Institute of Gastroenterology was created by combining such units as the academic group V. Kh. Vasilenko, the surgical team of the USSR Institute of Surgery and the hepatic ward of the Institute of Therapy of the Academy of Medical Sciences. The building for him was decided to be built at the address: Pogodinskaya Street, house No. 5. Upon completion of the construction, all the necessary structures of the unit were formed and all staff rates were occupied. In addition, at the same time the Society of Gastroenterologists of the USSR was organized. Two or three years after the events described, the institute was able to take the leading position in the country. In 1973, the Government decided to reorient the Institute of Gastroenterology, and on its basis in the same year, the Central Research Institute of Gastroenterology, later placed on the Entuziastov Highway, was established.

In February 2001, by order of the DepartmentDirector of the Central Research Institute of Health is appointed Professor Lazebnik, Moscow's chief physician. Today, the place of the head of the institution is occupied by Doctor of Medical Sciences IE Khatkov.
