Vaccination of dogs

Recently, many owners of animalsignore vaccinations. Among the reasons, many call the inefficiency of vaccines. There are times when a dog that receives the necessary vaccinations nevertheless develops plague or enteritis, and some owners believe that vaccinating dogs - nothing more than a waste of money and time. Meanwhile, experts say that compliance with the rules and timing of vaccination minimizes infection with viral infections.

The most common are infectiousdiseases of dogs, such as parvovirus enteritis, contagious hepatitis, leptospirosis and, of course, plague. The course of these diseases, as a rule, is severe, cases of lethal outcomes are not uncommon. Rarely now there is rabies. However, do not forget that this disease is fatal, and, not only for dogs, but for humans. Remember, vaccinating dogs against rabies is mandatory.

What vaccines are used?
Recently, the volume of purchases has increasedimport preparations, at the same time, production of quality domestic vaccines has been established. Is there a difference between Russian and imported drugs? Vaccines are produced from viruses that are prevalent in one area or another, that is why in Russia preference is given to domestic drugs, or European ones, such as "Hexadog" and "Nobi-vak". It is desirable that the first vaccination of dogs of large breeds be carried out with domestic preparations. In prosperous countries, control over stray dogs is carried out, and the spread of viral infections there is small. Imported vaccines, especially American ones, often form less reliable immunity.

Against viral hepatitis and enteritis successfullyuse the Russian bivalent vaccine "Parvovac". For anti-plague vaccination puppies use EPM vaccines, "668-KF" and "Vakchum". Popular and multivalent vaccines, in particular, "Trivak" from plague, hepatitis and enteritis and "Multikan-4" from coronavirus and parvovirus enteritis, adenovirus, hepatitis and plague. From domestic vaccines against rabies it is worth noting anti-rabies phenol-vaccine. The Dutch multivalent vaccine "Nobivac rz & Nobi-vac rz" is also used against hepatitis, rabies, enteritis, plague and leptospirosis.

Scheme of vaccination of dogs
Vaccination against hepatitis, coronavirus and parvovirus enteritis is done at 1.5 months. Repeat the inoculation after 10-14 days and in a year.
At the age of 2.5 months, puppies are vaccinated against the plague. Repeated vaccination of dogs from plague is carried out at 7-8 months, when the change of teeth will end. Then the vaccine is done once a year.
Vaccination against leptospirosis is carried out by dogs after 4 months, and subsequently - once a year. After 8 months, vaccination against rabies is carried out.

This is a classic vaccination scheme for dogs, althoughthere are other schemes. It is important to remember, during 2-3 weeks after vaccination, quarantine must be maintained - the dog should not be bathed, it is necessary to take care that the animal is not overtired. 10 days before the inoculation, deworming should be performed. The interval between vaccinations should be at least three weeks. The vaccination schedule, as a rule, is coordinated with the terms of anti-plague vaccinations. Particular attention should be given to the quality, dosages and compliance with the rules for storage of vaccines.

Contraindications for vaccination:

If the dog is depleted, her body temperature is raised, vaccination should be postponed. If your pet has worms, sharp orchronic diseases, acquired immunodeficiency, vaccination is also not shown. If the dog was given hyperimmune serum for three weeks prior to the proposed vaccination, the vaccine should also be resuscitated. Vaccination of dogs is carried out only under the supervision of a specialist, and all recommendations must be strictly observed.
