They combine pleasant sweetness with light bitterness and have a thick, sometimes viscous consistency. And what if you try to make liqueur yourself, for example, with a refreshing lemon flavor? This drink has its own name and homeland. It's about Italian limoncello. At home, it can be done by everyone.

From the history of lemon liquor

The history of this drink is not fully disclosed.Some argue that it began in ancient times, when they began to grow lemon trees. Others believe that this liqueur is quite young and has only about 150 years. Someone in general attributes the authorship of the recipe to their ancestors. First we prepared limoncello at home for our family and next of kin. And only in 1991, its production was put on stream. In Sorrento was built factory of the brothers Massa, whose family for many years was preparing this liquor for their own consumption. Now the process has taken on an industrial scale. Today, limoncello liqueur is sold all over the world, however, its price is quite high. Having learned to make this drink at home, you will perfectly save and become a welcome guest at any party.

We prepare limoncello on our own

It is important to carefully select the main component -lemons. They should be ripe, juicy, with a smooth and smooth skin. Wash well 10 medium-sized lemons and peel them off. Fold it in a glass bottle or jar and fill it with alcohol (half liter). Cover and persist for 7-10 days, shaking the jar daily, so that the liquid does not stagnate. Then you can proceed to the next part of the preparation of limoncello at home. To do this, you need to weld a syrup of 500 grams of sugar and 650 milliliters of water to get a uniform thick mass. Mix the strained lemon tincture with the syrup and leave for another 5 days in a cool place. Now your home-made liquor is finally ready.

"Citrus Mix"

Serve liquor in chilled (infreezer) of high glasses. Some people drink it just like that, but you can make delicious cocktails with limoncello. Here are a couple of simple recipes. In a glass for cocktails, pour ice, then pour in layers of 50 grams of limoncello, 20 grams of lime juice and 150 grams of orange juice. Let's call this drink "Citrus Mix".

"Yellow Fairy"

The next cocktail is known as the "Yellow Fairy".In a shaker with ice, mix 60 grams of gin, 30 grams of limoncello, 10 grams of absinthe and a couple drops of bitter. Shake well until all the components have cooled down and pour out the pre-frozen cocktail glasses through the filter. Garnish with lemon rind.

"Lemon Champagne"

The third recipe is very festive, soas includes champagne. Mint leaves, a quarter of a glass of limoncello, 2 tablespoons of sugar and a peel of one lemon in a blender for a few seconds and squeeze.
