Individual entrepreneurs have rights andcivil duties that are necessary for the conduct of various activities, if they are not prohibited by law. Some activities require a license, and their list is determined by law.

The types of activity are conventionally divided into the following groups:

To conduct certain types of economic activities you need to obtain a license. It is issued by the licensing authority. Such activities include:

- tourist activity;

- pharmaceutical activity;

- frequent detective work;

- passenger and cargo transportation by such types of transport as air, railway, sea.

For activities that requirecoordination and authorization, a special license is not needed, but it is necessary to obtain a permit in special supervisory bodies, for example, the Ministry for Emergency Situations, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service and other similar institutions.

There is also a list of activities that are closed to an individual entrepreneur. This is a fairly large part of the directions, among which:

- trade, both wholesale and retail, with alcoholic beverages and their production;

- production, repair, testing of aviation equipment, which has a dual purpose;

- development, production, trade in arms and ammunition;

- exposure, collection and disposal of ammunition;

- production, storage, use, distribution of explosive materials, as well as the production of pyrotechnic products and the distribution of such IV and V class products;

- carrying out work on the impact on hydrometeorological and geophysical phenomena and processes;

- Conducting private security activities;

- Employment of citizens outside the Russian Federation;

- cultivation of plants, which are used in the production of psychotropic and narcotic drugs;

- space activities;

- any activity related to pension funds and pensions.
