Vladimir Churov was born in an intelligent Leningrad family on March 17, 1953. His father was a naval officer, he had a degree. Mother, a philologist by profession, worked as an editor.

After school, he entered the Leningrad University of Humanities at the Faculty of Journalism. Having defended his diploma, he did not stop at what he had achieved and became a student of the physics department of the same university, who graduated in 1977.
