The most common fastening polycarbonate screws, but to obtain a stable and durable design is also recommended to use profiles and special tape. If there are no special requirements to the construction, then we can limit ourselves to the usual hardware, but on condition that the installation will be accompanied by the use of thermal washers.
Panels of this type are fixed by the same elementsas monolithic counterparts. But cellular polycarbonate has its own design features that are important to consider when installing the material. Open cells can become clogged with dirt, water and insects, which affects the technical and aesthetic qualities of the coating. To prevent clogging allow special tapes that are glued to the cellular polycarbonate. The fastening of the protective strip allows you to isolate the internal space of the material. There are vapor and sealing tapes. It is preferable to stop the choice on the first option, because it minimizes the possibility of clogging combs, but does not create a barrier to the removal of condensate and ventilation. Sealing tapes, in turn, provide the maximum obstacle to any contact of the combs with the external environment - including they do not allow air and moisture to penetrate.
This is a new way of fixing polycarbonate sheets,which uses metal tapes that have undergone anti-corrosion treatment. The fastener elements are tightening clamps, the standard width of which is 20 mm and the thickness is approximately 0.7 mm. Due to galvanization, this material is not subject to chemical destruction by rust, and also provides structural strength. If polycarbonate is attached to the metal in the greenhouse, it is recommended to provide for the possibility of complex fixing of the tapes, which will provide a tie for several sheets of material at once.
The main advantage in installing such tapesis the lack of need to invade the structure of the polycarbonate itself. That is, it does not need to be drilled or special perforations made for a specific fastener. Tapes provide a rather tight fit of the material to the frame elements. Use this method preferably on the arc and arched structures. At the same time in the support arcs of the same greenhouses do not have to create holes for hardware, since the galvanized tape for fastening polycarbonate acts according to the principle of tightening force.

The drawbacks of using such hardware are due to the physical and operational properties of polycarbonate, which make its structure changeable during temperature changes. The use of a thermo-washer eliminates negative factors - the element naturally adapts to external conditions, evenly distributing downforce. The combined fastening of polycarbonate to metal is also practiced, in which the self-tapping screws and the thermo-washer are twisted through a galvanized tape. This achieves maximum reliability of the metal frame plating and eliminates the disadvantages inherent in the single use of the strap. On the other hand, it is the most expensive and time-consuming polycarbonate installation technology, which in some cases does not justify itself.
