1. Vnukovo.Located in the city, in the south-west, 10 km from the Moscow Ring Road. The third in UIA largest passenger traffic. Vnukovo-1, a member of the list of Moscow airports, serves international (charter and regular) passengers, domestic flights, as well as cargo aircraft. Vnukovo-2 is intended for special flights of the leaders of the Russian Federation and foreign countries. Vnukovo-3 serves the government of Moscow, Roscosmos and business flights. Vnukovo airport terminal area is the record holder of Russia, its area is 270 thousand meters².
2. Domodedovo.The southernmost of the list of Moscow airports is the 22nd km along the Moscow Ring Road along the Kashirskoye Highway (45 km from the center of the capital). The airport is among the top three in Eastern Europe. In 2012, recognized as the most "busy" airport in Russia and one of the busiest among European. There are two runways that allow simultaneous takeoff and landing of aircraft. From here, aircraft fly to 247 directions (83 of which are unique to UIA), which are supervised by 82 airlines. All Domodedovo terminals make up a single complex.
3. Шереметьево. Его можно найти на территории г.Khimki (to the north of the capital, following along the Leningrad highway). Through it annually passes 15 million passengers and hundreds of tons of various cargoes. This is the second Russian airport in terms of passenger traffic (after Domodedovo). It was built for the USSR Air Force (commissioned in 1957), but already in 1959 it was converted into a passenger one. After a relatively recent transformation (2009–2010), terminals B, C, D, E, F were made at Sheremetyevo.
4. Ostafyevo.Located in the Podolsk district (near the South Butovo), mainly used for business flights. Both civilian and military aircraft are based here. Opened in 1934, this airport managed to be under the jurisdiction of the NKVD, the Ministry of Defense of the USSR, Gazpromavia, becoming, as a result, in 2000 opened for the transport of citizens. Now on its territory there are 26 aircraft parkings, a service station, heated hangar complexes.
5. Zhukovsky. Cargo and test airport; reconstructed in 2016. At the same time, its passenger terminal with an area of ​​17 thousand meters was opened². Over the past year he has served 2 million people. So far available flights to Belarus and Kazakhstan.
6. Chkalovsky. Located in the southeast ofSchelkovo, 31 km from the north-eastern outskirts of the capital. The vessels of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are based here, the organization responsible for the commercial transportation by military aircraft, charter civil flights (both passenger and cargo) are made on one-time passes. The airport received its name due to the fact that in 1932 a bomber plane landed on its territory for the first time, which was flown by the legendary V.P. Chkalov.

Less known airports

List of airports in Moscow and the Moscow region, little-known for the majority of passengers:

1. Bykovo (35 km from the center of the capital) is the oldest Russian airport. Closed for renovation. According to other information works for state officials, businessmen, security officials and representatives of the special services.
2. Drakino (Serpukhov district) is the base airport for training the Russian national aerobatic team, as well as amateur pilots, parachutists, and hang-gliders.
3. Korobcheevo (Kolomna district) - the base of the aviation-technical club, the place of the organization of commercial parachute jumps.
4. Kubinka is a military airfield where the famous "Russian Knights" and "Swifts" are based.
5. Malino - military airport (southeast of the capital) - the 206th aviation helicopter base.
6. Myachkovo (16th km from Moscow Ring Road on Novoryazanskoye Highway) is the location of private flying clubs of the Federation of Aviation Lovers.
7. Severka is a sports private airport 73 km from Moscow, where both Russian and foreign airplanes and helicopters are based.
