Russian skiers regularly demonstrate high results, including at the Olympic Games. So, the 2006 Olympics in Turin became the tournament of triumph of Evgeny Dementiev, who won two medals.
Evgeni Alexandrovich Dementiev was born on January 171983 in the settlement of Taiga Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. While studying at school, he began to attend the sports section, where he became interested in skiing and trained under the direction of Valery Ukhov. At the age of 17, the young Zhenya was invited to participate in the Russian championship, where he won a gold medal, due to which he got to the national team for the upcoming starts.
The first three years of the ski biography of EugeneDementieva took place in youth starts, where a young Russian, although he did not get on the podium, but often got into the top ten. To gain professional experience, coaches also invited the athlete to the Russian stages of international races. In 2003, at the World Junior Championships, Yevgeny was on the podium for the first time, taking first the third place, and then celebrating the victory at the 10-kilometer distance.
From that moment it was difficult to imagine the national teamRussia at the world championships without Evgeni Dementiev. In February 2004, at the stage in France, the Russian enriched his piggy bank with the first medal in the adult championship, having won the bronze in the relay race, and later in Sweden he won a personal award, taking silver in the 15 km race.
Not getting into the Olympic team in 2002year, Eugene set his sights on the next Olympics and with great spirits began to prove his need to participate in the following games. As a result, in December 2004, Evgeny Dementyev found himself in the first money gold medal in the race for 15 km, shortly thereafter, the second one - 30 km.
As a result, at the Olympics in Turin in 2006one of the contenders for a high result was Evgeni Dementiev. A skier from Russia in the very first race confirmed his serious intentions - in the duathlon 15 + 15 km he was not equal, and he brought the national team a gold medal. In the relay, the team did not perform well - the Russian quartet was only the sixth, but in the marathon race for 50 km, Eugene again found himself on the pedestal, becoming the second.
After the success in Turin, the Russian skier continuedsuccessful performance at the world championships, and over the next three years he climbed four times on the first step of the pedestal, three times in the personal types of the program. But in 2009 the media published a sad news for the fans - Evgeni Dementiev, the Olympic champion of Turin, was suspected of using doping. His "A" test showed a positive result, after which the Russian announced his retirement, refusing to look for the guilty party.
But after the end of the period of disqualification Eugenedecided to return to the big sport, hoping to get to the Olympic Games in Sochi. At first, the Russian skier performed only in the national championships and European championships, but could not return to the national team, eventually conceding, in addition to the home Olympics, also the World Cup.
Незадолго до ухода из спорта, в 2009 году, Evgeni Dementiev married and is now engaged in the upbringing of his son Daniil, who was born in 2010. About his plans after leaving the sport, Eugene does not think about it yet, but I am sure that his further career will necessarily be connected with skis.
