VAZ-21103 - modification of one of the most popular models of AvtoVAZ in its history

VAZ-21103 - one of the best versions of sedans "tenth" generation. Its characteristic feature is an improved sixteen valve engine (1.5 liter capacity).

This version was born in the newmillennium, although the first documentary evidence of the idea of ​​a fundamentally new model existed in 1983. The car was conceived as a sedan, and its models were suspiciously similar to the Ford and Opel models of those years. At that time, the project did not receive approval. Later, after the release of the 99th model, beloved by all, the designers returned to work on a forgotten car, which was destined to become a true flagship among all AvtoVAZ models for many years. In the design process, several prototypes were used with the working names “100”, “200”, “300”. With the first two, work was soon stopped due to their futility, then work together with Porsche specialists was carried out exclusively on the “300” project.

Serial production of the sedan began in 1996 withThe basic version, years later, several modifications were released, including the VAZ-21103. Technical characteristics of the new car are extremely different from the entire previous model range. Zincing of individual body parts, adjustable steering column, gasoline vapor recovery system, on-board monitoring system, ventilated brake discs - this is not the whole list of innovations that the VAZ-21103 can boast of. Reviews of buyers, who have been relocated to the new sedan, boiled down to one thing - this is indeed the most comfortable and stylish car that AvtoVAZ produced by that moment.

A little later, it was decided to complete the cars with 8-valve engines (79 hp, 1.5 l) with distributed fuel injection. Such a power unit at the same time showed good power and showed relatively low fuel consumption. The motor allowed to accelerate to the "hundred" in 14 seconds, and the maximum speed was 170 km / h.

This engine allows the car to demonstrate improved dynamic qualities, and cars with similar engines received an index VAZ-21103. This engine is already able to accelerate the car to 185 km / h. In addition to these modifications, you can find on the roads and a 2-liter 150-horsepower engine with a point injection system. There are also all-wheel drive versions of the tenth generation sedan, but they are usually sporty or all-terrain, therefore, as a rule, limited-edition or experimental.

VAZ-21103 is designed from scratch.Like it or not, but with this model a new era began in the domestic automotive industry. Modern design, good aerodynamics, roomy trunk, efficiency - all this speaks well for the "dozens". At the same time, the lack of the necessary options and the quality of the components are not the best, and therefore, in order to make comparisons with foreign analogues not in their favor, there is still work to be done.
