What is the pump for?

1. Several keys: "10", "13", "17". It is desirable that ratchets with heads, since they are much more convenient to work with.
2. Silicone based sealer. White is best. Red or black use is undesirable - it will be difficult to clean the surfaces with subsequent repairs.
3. Basin for draining liquid from the cooling system.
4. Screwdrivers are cross and flat.

You may need a knife to remove the old gasket, but do it carefully so as not to damage the surface.

Removing the liquid pump

It is not necessary to completely change the pump, it is enough to put a new cover, in which the axis and the impeller are located. To make repairs to VAZ-2106, you need to perform the following manipulations:

1. Allow engine to cool to 20-40 degrees.
2. Install a basin under the drain hole in the radiator. Get rid of antifreeze. To make it run better, you need to unscrew the cork from above.
3. Then, having installed a basin under the engine and having unscrewed the plug in the block with a key, remove the residues from the cooling jacket. The stove cock must always be open.
4. Remove the drive belt of the generator and pump on the VAZ-2106. To do this, use a key on 17 to unscrew the nut from the upper mounting of the generator, the belt will loosen.
5. With the 10 key, unscrew the tube from the pump to the heater tap.
6. Drain the antifreeze residues.
7. Remove all nuts on the pump cover using the 13 key.
8. Carefully remove the pump.

To loosen the belt tension, you can remove the pulley from the pump. But at installation all the same it is necessary to weaken fastening of the generator as to establish a pulley on a place it does not turn out.

Installing a new pump

Before installing a new cooling pumpliquid, evaluate its condition - there should be no damage to the body, scuffing. To ensure maximum tightness, the whole surface on the engine block to which the pump body is attached should be cleaned to a shine and degreased. On the gasket on both sides, apply a thin layer of white sealant. Too thick to do is not necessary - it will last longer to dry, and the reliability of this will suffer, since some of the sealant can get inside the cooling system.

After that, install the gasket and pump on thePlace nails, but do not tighten them. It is necessary to wait until the sealant starts to solidify - this will take 15-25 minutes. Only after it has solidified, it is possible to tighten all threaded connections in a cross-wise manner for uniformity. At this repair VAZ-2106 is not finished - you will need to install all the nozzles in place. Clamps are desirable to use new, replace and laying under the tube going to the tap of the heater.

Prorolling the system

1. Open the stove cock and set the car so that its front part is slightly higher than the rear. So it will be possible to achieve that the antifreeze evenly fills the entire system.
2. Make sure all drain holes are closed.
3. Fill the radiator with antifreeze to the maximum. Press the nipples with your hands to displace the air from them.
4. Close the cover on the radiator and fill the expansion tank with antifreeze just above the lower mark.
5. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. Pay attention to whether there is a leak of fluid from the system.
6. If the pump on the VAZ-2106 is working correctly, thenCooling will occur in normal mode. To get rid of air congestion, grasp the nipples. But do not forget that they are hot, so use gloves.

When working with a cooling system, be sure toobserve the safety rules. If the antifreeze gets in your hands, then nothing will follow. But do not get in the airways or eyes.
