In 2008, the American thriller was filmedin noir style - "Max Payne." Actor Mark Wahlberg played the lead role, and his partner was Mila Kunis. The plot is based on the eponymous series of Finnish computer games.
In the center of the plot is New Yorka cop named Max Payne (actor - Mark Wahlberg). He has everything you could wish for - wealth, a loving wife and a small child. In an instant, his life is turned upside down when a psychopath kills his family. From this very moment the main goal of the policeman is revenge. Hunting the killer, he falls into the darkest corners of New York, where he intersects with drug addicts, rapists, thieves and vandals. Some time later, he was expelled from the bodies, as he was suspected of murder, which he did not commit. "Max Payne" - a film about a man who has nothing to lose. He looks at life through the prism of evil, and all that his soul craves is to avenge his loved ones.
Initially, the role of the main character plannedcall actor Clive Owen, because by type he looked like Max out of the game. After some thought, the directors turned their attention to Mark Wahlberg, who at that time was not involved in any filming. Having received the offer, the actor immediately rejected it, stating that his career had not yet reached the pen, so he would not act in “deliberate nonsense.” However, after listening to the arguments of his advisers, as well as reading the script, Wahlberg literally fell in love with a character named Max Payne. The actor has even started to play this game, but he hasn’t reached the end because of his busy schedule. Later he consulted with a friend who was an expert in this Finnish design.
Acting characters in this picture is not verylot. People are present in the frame, but their roles are fleeting, insignificant, since all attention is focused on the main character, on his grief and thirst for revenge. However, it is impossible to lose sight of the two heroines - Mona and Natasha Saks, who in the plot are sisters performed by Mila Kunis and Olga Kurylenko. The director deliberately chose Russian-speaking actresses with Slavic roots, since at the beginning of the film we see how they communicate with each other in their native language. Also in the picture we meet the actor and hip-hop artist Ludacris as Jim Bravur. Paradoxically, an African American young rapper plays a white and an old chef here. Also in the picture is removed Beau Bridges in the role of Hensley.
At the end of the film, Mona becomes the verythe girl with whom Max Payne binds his life. Actor Mark Wahlberg in tandem with Mila Kunis first appears on the screens as a couple, and, as it turned out, not the last time. Despite the gloomy atmosphere and a small number of dialogues, the directors noted that these two look good together. A few years later they will be invited to play a married couple in a comedy called The Third Extra, a favorite movie of all young people.
From the first minutes of watching you unwittingly realize that"Max Payne" - the film is extremely gray, dark and depressive. He shot in the style of noir, which is extremely rare in modern cinema. However, the atmosphere of hopelessness and the absence of a craving for life are created not only by the color gamut, but also by the storyline. The gray palette, combined with an irresistible depression, with countless gangs of marginals and with the desire to return what cannot be returned, made this film unique in its genre.
Unlike the movie "Resident Evil", based onwho made the game of the same name, the situation with "Max Payne" was the opposite. The script was completely written off the game, however, as well as some details of the entourage. The idea of creating a dark and black-and-white atmosphere at the director arose after watching the “City of Sins”, as well as some of Quentin Tarantino’s masterpieces. In some sources it is indicated that the creators also turned to different moments from The Matrix, for example, there are no blue tones in the film. In combination with the tragic scenario, the painting “Max Payne” with Mark Wahlberg became the benchmark of a dark and depressive movie. After watching it, I want to sit in silence and think about what unhappiness really is.
