Kazimir Malevich - the greatest artist, whomhonored not only in our country, but throughout the world. During his creative life, he created about 300 avant-garde masterpieces that have not lost their relevance to this day.
Being the brightest representative of abstractionism in art, the great Kazimir Severinovich Malevich in the early twentieth century became the founder of one of his directions - suprematism.
A new and unfamiliar word meantperfection, superiority, domination over all earthly and tangible. The paintings of Malevich became a breath of fresh air in art, and their whole essence was the opposition to naturalism in painting.
The fundamental elements of steel canvasesgeometric shapes of bright colors, depicted in various combinations and directions. Geometry in the paintings of supermists is not just an image. It carries a deep meaning, understood by each viewer in its own way. Some will see the originality and innovation of the author, others will understand that ordinary things are not as simple as they seem.
Most fully this direction has revealed itself within the framework of the Russian avant-garde.
Innovation in the world of painting had so much toplace and by the time, which is reflected not only in painting, but also in the architecture and everyday life of contemporaries. For example, the facades of houses and household utensils were decorated with symbols of Suprematism. It corresponded to the spirit of that time and became popular.
Probably the most vibrant and disturbingMalevich’s imagination was the painting “Suprematist Composition” (a blue rectangle on top of a red beam), which to this day is the rarest creation of 20th century fine art in Russia and the most expensive painting by a Russian artist in the world.
The painting "Suprematic composition" representsa collection of the main symbols of a new direction in painting, geometric figures with a strip in a diagonal projection. Rectangles of different dimensions and colors soar in a white space, refuting all the laws of statics. This creates the impression of something unknown, something beyond the traditional understanding of the world. Quite tangible objects of the earth are suddenly presented as symbols of some new fantastic knowledge.
The canvas represents the middle stage betweenpreviously written "Black Square" and the works included in the cycle of white suprematism. Geometry figures here are like a microcosm, floating in the macrocosm of the white abyss.
The center of the picture is a big bright blue.a rectangle, approximated by its parameters to the square, depicted on top of the red beam, penetrating the canvas and as if indicating the direction to all the other figures.
According to the laws of Suprematism, the colors of geometric shapes stand in the background, the essence of rectangles and rays, their texture is paramount.
The path of this picture to this day is not easy, but very interesting.
Posted by "Suprematic composition" by Malevich in1916 In 1927, the great artist, who was in need in his homeland, had the opportunity to present himself to the world and organize an exhibition in Warsaw, and then in Berlin. The paintings of Malevich, exhibited in the hall of the Great Berlin art exhibition, created a sensation in the art world, and the public accepted them with delight. Among them was the "Suprematic composition" with a strip in the projection.
When for one of his works to Malevichmanaged to bail out about 2000 rubles, he rejoiced. But the dreams of a beautiful future did not come true - soon after the start of the exhibition, Malevich was summoned to Leningrad by telegram.
The great master hoped to return to Berlin andcontinue to popularize the ideology of Suprematism. But again he did not manage to get abroad. He was, like many of his compatriots, hostage to the existing political system in his own country. In 1935, Malevich died. At home, he remained a disgraced artist without means of livelihood.
В Германии остались около 100 работ unsurpassed artist. Their guardian was the eminent architect Hugo Haring, who soon handed them over to the director of the museum in Hanover, Alexander Dorner. Dorner sold some of the canvases to Alfred Barr, curator of the New York Museum of Modern Art. Among them was also a "Suprematic composition" with a strip.
Blaming Alexander Dorner for self-interest andlove of money is impossible. The fact is that he did his best to break out of Germany, in which the nationalist ideology was increasingly established in rights. At that time, to keep the works of "degenerate art" of Jewish-Bolshevik origin, by which Malevich's paintings in Nazi Germany were considered, was like death. It is thanks to the connection with MoMA Dorner managed to get an American visa and go overseas. So the masterpieces of Suprematism practically saved the life of an art historian.
The modern world of art is obliged to save partthe incorruptible canvases were exactly American Alfred Barr, who, risking his life, in an umbrella took out works of art to the USA. It is not difficult to imagine what would happen to him if a cache is detected ...
The remaining paintings, ironically, were again under the protection of Hugo Hering, who, regardless of the enormous risk to life, again began to keep them at home until his death in 1958.
Truly about the fate of the avant-garde masterpiece would be worth making a film with an exciting plot.
After the death of Hugo Hering, the paintings, includingwhich was and "Suprematic composition", sold Steadleyk Museum in Amsterdam. For some time the canvas found peace within the walls of this museum, but not for long ...
Since the 1970s, the heirs of the great avant-gardistbegan to show their rights to priceless canvases. Since that time, the proceedings were conducted on the issue of the right of inheritance. Only in 2002, thanks to one circumstance, the descendants of the artist were able to get what they wanted.
It was in 2002, 14 paintings of a huge collection.from Studeleyk were sent to the United States in the Guggenheim Museum for the grand exhibition "Kazimir Malevich. Suprematism." This fact served as a decisive factor in resolving many years of litigation. In the US, lawyers found loopholes that simply did not exist in the laws of the Netherlands. Due to this, the Dutch transferred into possession of Kazimir Malevich’s heirs 5 of his brightest canvases, among which was the “Suprematic composition” with a rectangle and a red ray.
A long odyssey of the work of Malevichended in 2008, when it was sold at Sotheby’s for an incredibly huge amount of money, namely, for $ 60 million. This amount offered an anonymous art lover before the start of trading.
The popularity of the paintings of the great master only grows. This is evidenced by the fact of purchase in May 2017 (in the framework of the same auction) of the painting "Suprematic composition" with a strip in the projection. It was sold for a smaller, but still huge amount - 21.2 million dollars.
If he knew the greatest avant-gardist, how his work is valued in our day ... Indeed, at one time he was misunderstood and disgraced, especially after his triumph in the West.
So "Suprematist composition" CasimirMalevich, having undergone so many tests in the difficult twentieth century, turned out to be the most expensive painting by a Russian author at a foreign auction. And who knows if the point has been put in this amazing story ...
