Together they go to the Visiting Zone forsearch for "dummy". But after a dangerous journey, Cyril dies from a heart attack, which becomes the consequence of touching a strange silver web. Redrick blames himself for the death of a scientist.
In the third chapter, the hero of the novel is married, he growsdaughter. Redrick is no longer working at the institute. He again became a stalker. In the novel, a new character appears - Burbridge Vulture. In the circle of stalkers has his nickname Redrick Schuhart. With Burbridge Redrick goes to newexpedition. However, along the way, the Vulture damages its legs. Redhead Shewhart saves him. But not because he promises him to discover where the Golden Ball, the wish-fulfilling. And because, despite its unseemly activity, Redrick is not so bad. Greed and greed are not characteristic features of this hero.
Schuhart again sent to the Visiting Zone. But this time he is arrested and sentenced to several years in prison.
In the years that Redrick spent in prison, his daughterhas changed a lot. The girl will die soon. The purpose of the next Stalker outburst of Schuhart is to save his daughter. Somewhere in the Visiting Area there is a Golden Ball that will help the hero bring her back. In the last journey, the stalker risks the life of his former partner's son. But this risk is not justified. Looking at the Golden Ball, Red realizes with horror that he has no more words or thoughts.
