Semiconductors, which are the main material, from which modern microcircuits are created, are extremely sensitive to high temperatures. And if we take into account the heat generation level of the currently existing central and graphic processors, which sometimes exceeds 100 W, the program for monitoring the temperature of the computer components installed in the system seems not too superfluous.
In the segment of such utilities at presentare encountered as highly specialized programs, "sharpened" for the products of certain manufacturers, and unique "combines", which allow monitoring the indications of a huge range of temperature sensors of virtually all devices that support this capability.
A separate software module that works as athe program for monitoring the temperature of the processor, video card, motherboard and hard drive, is usually part of most utilities for computer review and diagnostics. The most famous utilities of this class are AIDA 64, HWInfo, ASTRA32. Of course, constantly keep in memory such a "Swiss knife" - quite costly for computer resources, so for permanent use, such products are not very suitable.
Firm program for temperature monitoringprocessor is already an integral part of the discs that motherboard manufacturers of the first echelon put in boxes with their products. As a rule, these products are "sharpened" to work with "native" cards. Also, from experience, I can say that the convenience of the interface such utilities do not shine. The only advantage of such products is practically a 100% guarantee of correct decoding of the temperature sensors.
The next program for temperature monitoring, which is worth considering, is called CoreTemp. This is quite an old project, which has been on the market since 2006. The main advantages of this product are its free, universal and rich functionality. All current processors are supported, while the utility is constantly updated and gets support for new CPUs.
On the manufacturer's website there are such pleasantbonuses as a gadget for Windows Vista / Windows 7, add-ons for remote temperature monitoring, incl. and from mobile devices, etc. The program works correctly with multi-core processors and is able to display the temperature of each kernel separately and the averaged data. At the same time the utility is not resource-intensive, due to which it will suit even the owners of not the newest computers.
Of course, this is not the only program fortemperature monitoring. Among the well-known utilities of this class should be noted HWMonitor, SpeedFan, Real Temp, Hmonitor. Some of them support only processors of certain manufacturers (for example, Real Temp only works with Intel processors), some utilities are paid.
If the user needs to trackthe temperature of the GPU, the most well-known program for monitoring the temperature of the video card is already somewhat outdated by modern standards, but still the current utility RivaTuner. At one time, this application was created for fine-tuning and overclocking of video cards based on chips from NVIDIA (at the same time, with some reservations, the program worked perfectly with ATI video processors). For several years, this project has not developed. But based on its code, there are now several other programs, the most famous of which are EVGA Precision and MSI Afterburner. If the first utility is designed to work with video cards from EVGA, then the second one has retained the spirit of universality and freedom inherent in RivaTuner. However, it is also freeware.
Оба основных производителя графических processors as part of their drivers also supply special utilities that allow to “monitor” the state of the video card, incl. and GPU temperature. But at the same time, oddly enough, the same MSI Afterburner utility “loads” the system not so much, plus it has more rich functionality.
