It is recommended that you format the temporary storageonce a week. And it can take a long time, especially when several browsers are used at once. To clear the cache immediately in several programs, thereby speeding up the formatting process, you can use additional tools. Now there are many different utilities for this operation. From myself I can recommend the program CCleaner. This software has an intuitive interface. It is enough to select the necessary browser and note the necessary operation. Also, the program CCleaner will provide information about the location of the cache files and its full size. Thus, you can independently monitor the status of the temporary storage. You can also format the cache manually (knowing the directory where the files are located), but this is not recommended.
