Aluminum tape self-adhesive: properties, types, characteristics

Aluminum tape self-adhesive - widelycommon sealing material used in construction, for installation work, and in the home. It is an aluminum foil coated with an adhesive base on one side and a sealing layer.

Properties

The tape aluminum self-adhesive is light, strong andreliable with high insulating properties. It is elastic in structure, easily takes the desired shape. It can bend, cover uneven surfaces, which makes it quite easy to use.

aluminum adhesive tape

Most often, aluminum self-adhesive tape is used to seal joints and to insulate surfaces. This is due to such properties of LAS as:

  • the presence of barrier qualities to water, dust, bacteria;
  • high wear resistance and tensile strength;
  • opacity - the ability to reflect radiation and heat;
  • durability, corrosion resistance and safety.

Self-adhesive aluminum tape has a highthe degree of adhesion (2.5-10 N / cm). This indicator characterizes the degree of adhesion of the tape with the working surface. The tape retains its properties, including adhesive, in a wide range of temperatures - from -20 to +120 0C. The thickness of the adhesive base is not less than 20 microns.

Types and designations

Several types of self-adhesive aluminum tapes are available:

  • Tape aluminum self-adhesive (LAS).
  • LAS-A (reinforced). It is used with increased demands on the strength of seams.
  • LAS-T (heat resistant). For use in high temperatures.
  • LAS-SP (with a polymer coating). It is used to seal glass and glass.
  • LAS-P (durable). For use in demanding conditions and increased strength requirements.

The choice of a particular type of aluminum tape depends on the conditions of its use.

Material Requirements

  • Self-adhesive aluminum tape is made of aluminum foil with a thickness of 30-50 microns. A layer of glue is applied to one of the sides, which is protected by an anti-adhesive material.
  • The heat-resistant tape (LAS-T) is made of the same foil (30-50 microns), but the adhesive base, also protected by an anti-adhesive material, is heat-resistant.
  • Aluminum tape reinforced self-adhesive is made with one-sided additional layer of fiberglass on aluminum foil with a thickness of 7-30 microns.
  • Aluminum self-adhesive tape with polymercoating (LAS-SP) is made of foil with a thickness of at least 50 microns coated with a polymer coating (20 microns). The glue base with protective material is applied from the side of the foil.
  • Self-adhesive aluminum tape durable (LAS-P) is made of a multilayer material consisting of two layers of polymer film 20 μm and 60 μm and a layer of foil between them with a thickness of 9-11 μm.

Application area

High strength aluminum adhesive tapeallows you to use it when installing structures under load. Self-adhesive aluminum mounting tape is widely used in new construction and reconstruction of both civil and industrial facilities: sealing of insulation joints of materials and ventilation ducts, vapor barrier, pipelines, as well as for renovation of aluminum elements.

Aluminum self-adhesive tape is used whenrepair and construction of dry technology, cover seams, strengthen connections and other types of work. With its help, heat exchangers and reflectors of heating devices, heating systems, water supply and ventilation are sealed. LAS is used for fixing the heat exchanger in refrigerated cabinets for foaming.

LAS is used for mounting foamed polymersand mineral wool to plastic or metal surfaces. With increased demands on the strength of the seams, reinforced (LAS-A) or durable (LAS-P) self-adhesive tape is used, in conditions of elevated temperatures - heat-resistant tape (LAS-T). By production of double-glazed windows the self-adhesive aluminum tape with a polymeric covering is used.

Features of use

Processed before tapesurface must be prepared. To do this, the surface is degreased with special compounds, it must be dry and clean. While working with the tape, it is necessary to exclude the ingress of small particles on the open adhesive base or the surface to be treated. If the required surface preparation is not carried out, the tape will not stick properly and will not give the desired effect.

One of the important rules when working with self-adhesivetape - avoid touching the adhesive base. It is necessary to glue carefully, without hasty movements, be sure to ensure that the tape lies flat. After gluing, it is advisable to once again smooth out the treated seams. At temperatures above +80 0With perhaps twisting the tape around the edges.When using tape in such conditions, gluing should be done with overlapping. To obtain the expected effect, it is necessary to follow the recommendations indicated in the instructions for use.
