The Makarov Monastery is located in the village of Makarovka. The settlement is five kilometers away from Saransk.
The construction of the temple complex was started inXVIII century. The place of construction was the estate of Polyansky - the landowners known at that time. The first church erected in 1702, consecrated in honor of the Archangel Michael, was later built the church of John the Theologian, and only in 1730 the construction of the bell tower was completed.
