The post-war years of the Soviet Union are time.intensive construction, restoration of cities, industrial enterprises and the further development of the country that needed the forest. The main focus was on the boundless open spaces of the Tyumen region and specifically on the Khanty-Mansiysk district. In 1957, the construction of the railway connecting the Urals with the Ob basin began.
This factor predetermined the constructionforest industry, and with it the village where the workers lived. The railway solved the main problem - forest transportation. The foundation of the settlement took place in 1962, when a detachment of 50 builders landed on the undeveloped territory of the future settlement. Initially, nine houses were built, a year later the number of residents of the Soviet settlement of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug numbered 1,5 thousand.
At the end of the summer of 1963, near the village passedOb-Ivdel railway. This accelerated the development of the Soviet settlement. Already in January of that year, it was officially declared a working village, and its executive body, the Council of Deputies, was created.
Thanks to the advanced enterprise - logging enterprise -the village was developing rapidly. After a year of its existence, three streets were built. In 1965, the schools were opened: the eight-year school and the school of working youth. Two years later, a kindergarten and a public library were built.

In 1968, the population size was slightlyless than 6 thousand people. The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR adopts a decree approving the Sovetsky district of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. It includes the working settlements of the Soviet, Pioneer and Komsomolsk. The significance of the region for the country can be explained by the fact that in the same year the Sovetsky airport was put into operation as the basic unit of the Tyumen air unit. It was mainly based on helicopters, which were used to communicate with remote locations.
No matter how surprising, but post-SovietThe period that painfully hit the industrial areas of the Russian North, where many villages and cities turned into “ghosts”, losing a significant part of the population that left for the mainland, almost did not affect the population of the Soviet Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District (you can see photos of this region in article). The number of inhabitants continued to grow, and in 1996 it amounted to 20,000 people.
In the same year, a decision was made to classify the settlement of Sovetsky as a city of regional significance. The city of Yugorsk is removed from the Sovetsky district and is referred to cities of district importance.
Modern Soviet city of Khanty-MansiAutonomous Okrug - Ugra - continues to grow and develop. Dozens of kindergartens and schools have been built. The city is still growing.In 2016, its population was 29 thousand people. According to the national composition, the majority of city residents are Russians (86%), Ukrainians make up 5%, Tatars - 1.6%, Bashkirs - more than 1.5%, Belarusians - about 1.5%.
Many social enterprises have been built:shops, cafes, businesses. Particular attention is paid to the construction of apartment buildings, which are built exclusively from stone. Dozens of comfortable playgrounds delight the little townspeople.
