In the 60s, in the midst of the Cold War betweenThe Soviet Union and NATO, the military designers of both warring parties engaged in the creation of silent guns. The situation that developed at that time contributed to this as never before. In the Soviet Union, the possible armed confrontation with the US was taken very seriously. In the conditions of the Cold War, a special role was assigned primarily to reconnaissance and sabotage units, operating without attracting unnecessary attention, in the rear of the enemy. From Soviet designers it was required to create such weapons, the shooting from which would not be accompanied by loud sounds and flashes of a flame that was knocked out of the barrel. As a result, several silent and small-sized samples were created for Soviet special services.
Одним из них стал бесшумный пистолет ПБ 6П9.With his appearance, the problem of eliminating the sound and light accompanying during the shooting was solved. The review of the silent pistol PB is presented in this article.
Конструкторские работы по бесшумному пистолету ПБ were started by the employees of the Central Research Institute of Steel Industry after the order, received in 1960, from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry. Design was carried out under the guidance of the arms designer AA Deryagin. Contrary to the persistent belief of some small arms lovers that the Makarov pistol was used as the basis for this model, the designers borrowed only the USM and the store for a noiseless PI gun from the PM. Despite the external resemblance to the Makarov pistol, the new model is considered a completely original small arms.
Creating a silent gun PB, the Sovietgunsmiths have developed the main principles, allowing to effectively muffle the sound of a shot. In the process of research, the necessary theoretical and practical basis was created, which could be used in the future for the manufacture of other similar systems. After successful testing tests in 1967, the silent pistol PB (GRAU 6P9 index) was officially adopted by the KGB of the USSR.
In its original version, the barrel of the PM, in the opinion ofmilitary leadership, was not suitable for noiseless shooting. It was necessary to carry out the design work. As a result, in a noiseless PB pistol, the barrel was finalized, and the weapon itself was equipped with a special PBS device, which reduces the speed of the bullet to the sound.
The device for noiseless shooting representeda two-section silencer. Especially for the barrel expansion chamber was developed a reticulated metal roll, which absorbed the powder gases during the shooting. In the bottom of the hole, holes were drilled, through which the powder gases entered the expansion chamber. Its front part was attached to a removable knot of the silencer by means of a dry joint.
The muffler itself was equipped with a speciala separator having a special construction consisting of washers arranged at different angles with respect to the axis of the barrel channel. With their help during the shooting, crushing and "swirling" of the powder streams were carried out. This reduced the initial speed of the bullet to 290 m / s. As the speed of the bullet became less than the speed of sound, a shock wave did not form during the shooting.
PBS, designed for a silent pistol6P9, in contrast to other models, consists of two parts. Due to this constructive feature, the shooter has the opportunity to use a weapon with the nozzle removed (silencer). In this form it is less bulky, which is especially convenient when carrying or storing.
When operating the PB, not equipped with a silencer,The sound of the shot is not louder than that of Makarov's pistol. In the event that a fighter needs to be fired, without attracting attention, just put the muffler back on the trunk. Despite the fact that shooting with the use of attachments does not provide a complete noiselessness (metal parts striking against each other produce distinct sound at a distance of 50 meters), the shot is much quieter.
PB (6P9) uses borrowed from the PMshock-trigger mechanism with self-cocking. On the left side of the shutter, a fuse is placed, when triggered, the trigger is removed from the combat platoon. Since the front is a silencer, the PB has a smaller shutter than the PM. A short length of the shutter eliminates the possibility of a return spring in it. Therefore, the place for her was the handle of the pistol. The spring interacts with the shutter by means of a long swing arm. PB has fixed non-adjustable aiming devices. In addition, for this model, special fasteners have been developed, with which the weapon can be equipped with a laser target designator and a removable optical sight. For the PB, storekeeping is provided. The cartridges are contained in a single-row magazine, in the lower part of which there is a special locking latch.
PB (6P9) consists of the following parts:
1) the body of the expansion chamber;
2) the front sleeve for the camera;
3) the core of the expansion chamber;
4) the rear hub;
5) the shutter;
6) framework;
7) the trunk;
8) the lining for the handle;
9) the drummer;
10) Springs for the ejector;
11) pressure;
12) the ejector;
13) the trigger;
14) trigger;
15) whispered;
16) fuse;
17) the trigger rod containing the cocking lever;
18) the gate delay;
19) trigger guard;
20) the return spring;
21) the transmission link;
22) valves;
23) fighting springs;
24) hull for muffler;
25) separator;
26) of the pistol shop.
According to the military, using this silent gun, this model has the following advantages:
Despite the fact that this noiseless pistol has established itself as a very high-quality and reliable model of small arms, according to the reviews of the military, who use PB, it has the following disadvantages:
During the operation of the PB it was noticed thatIn cases where the fire with PB is carried out in batches of six shots, the sound becomes stronger. If shooting is carried out slowly, then the sound remains unchanged.
At one time, the silent pistol PB was usedin military intelligence and in the KGB by the special forces Alpha and Vympel. Today, these small arms are equipped with special forces of the FSB and internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
