In political terminology, there are manywords whose meanings are not fully understood by many. This is connected with the frequent change of the state regime, as a result of which the new ruler interprets everything in his own way, and with many historical facts. In this article we will try to find out what liberalism is, what its representatives are and what ideology they adhere to.
So, the liberal is first of allfreethinker, freethinker. It is believed that true liberals are endowed with excessive indulgence, they are accustomed to turn a blind eye to many contradictory facts, even unacceptable aspects for them. Above all, liberalism is a political trend that involves the freedom of speech, the actions of each individual in the economy and other areas of life.
Between the 16th and 18th centuries, Europe was borna trend called liberalism. The essence of it was that the representatives of the bourgeoisie began to demand the abolition of the absolute power that the Catholic Church provided, in return there was to come complete freedom of action for every citizen. First of all, this freedom concerned the field of economy and trade. The ability to conduct your business unhindered, express your own opinion on any occasion - this is the ideal model of the state, to which every liberal aspired. This, however, was the ideology of only a bourgeois stratum of society, which did not receive the proper support from ordinary inhabitants of European countries.
There were also those years when liberalism was becomingthe main political direction in many states. The flowering of this trend was the period of the Great French Revolution. Then every liberal - it was a representative of a rich family - lacked only freedom, which was limited by the spiritual absolute. Despite the fact that such individuals as M.J. Lafayette, O. Mirabeau, as well as the Girondins and Félyans, have received for a while in their hands the state apparatus, their own slogans about freedom have turned into something antidemocratic. Each representative of the bourgeois family "pulled the blanket over," solving only their problems and satisfying their own needs.
Representatives of French liberalism showedthemselves are not the best side, but their documents, slogans and claims with the right to a better life have remained in the memory of the people and on paper. These sources were the main impetus for the emergence of such freethinkers in the Russian Empire. Of course, everyone knows that in Russia the liberal is a Decembrist and every supporter of them. In 1825, they marched on the Senate Square in order to overthrow the Emperor. We can not say what our state could turn into if the people supported them, but this did not happen, and many of the rebels were executed.
In Soviet times, the Bolshevik Party ledan active struggle against any manifestations of freedom of speech and liberalism in society. We all know perfectly well that in the USSR there were no merchants, no private enterprises, no free trade. People could not even leave the borders of their native state to see the world.
