Polyurethane adhesive: properties and characteristics

Polyurethane adhesive

Polyurethane adhesive is a substance, possessing a mass of merits. The main one is its universality. They can be used for gluing stones, surfaces from glass, metal, wood, ceramics, polyurethane and polystyrene, as well as a number of other materials. This is due to the high adhesion of this composition to all specified types of materials. As a binder component here is polyurethane, which is clear from the name.

Connecting it with the help of surfaces guaranteesresistance to chemical reagents, temperature changes, various aggressive environmental influences, high temperatures and moisture. Such a connection can be operated in a sufficiently wide temperature range from -60 to +120 degrees Celsius. In addition, the polyurethane adhesive provides a strong connection, is resistant to the effects of such phenomena as mold and disease-causing fungi. The property of reinforcement allows you to make sure that the space between the surfaces to be glued is completely filled with it. The absence of solvents in the composition, as well as odor, ensures maximum safety during operation.

One-component polyurethane adhesive
There is a two-component and one-componentpolyurethane adhesive. The second option is easy to use and great convenience. In its composition there are prepolymers of isocyanates. Due to the high viscosity of the product, excellent initial setting is ensured. The interaction of isocyanates with atmospheric moisture leads to a chemical reaction. Its result is the formation of cross molecular bonds, so that the compound becomes as strong as possible.

Two-component polyurethane adhesive containsits composition of a couple of components, which in an unmixed state are characterized by low viscosity. Only after mechanical mixing the isocyanate hardener and polyol are combined, which results in the working state of the glue. Mixing of components is necessary with careful observance of certain technological conditions, that is, the required proportions, time intervals, and also temperature. With the correct approach to the procedure, the components interact. Observance of all conditions leads to the fact that the strength characteristics of the connection through polyurethane adhesive become incredibly high.

Glue on polyurethane basis

Glue on a polyurethane basis can becomean excellent assistant in laying parquet floor. For Russian operating conditions it is recommended to use two-component compositions that do not contain solvents or water. Such compounds are able to withstand almost any operational loads, so it is advisable to use them for laying a board or an array. Polyurethane adhesive can be applied to almost all types of substrates, without pre-priming. Remains of the system are easy to remove. Polyurethane adhesive guarantees high shear strength.
