Of course, our ancestors did not attend cinemas and did not exchange text messages with each other, but they were also inventors. And the most terrible of their invention were the instruments of torture of the Inquisition - the Christian justice of the time.

To begin with, it should be noted that the torture of the Inquisitionhad about a hundred varieties. Some "tools" have survived to this day. However, most often it is the usual museum exhibits, restored from the descriptions. Of course, the sophistication of the mind and the fiction of the inventors of the time is striking in its cruelty!

Torture tool number 1 - shoes with spikes

This is an iron shoe, which is under the heelsharp spike. The victim had to stand on his heels with a spike twisted upward, until his strength was exhausted. Imagine how hard it is to do? Just try to stand on your toes and check how much you stand in this position?

Instrument of torture №2 - "heretic fork"

This brutal device wasfour sharp spikes - two on each side. The upper two stuck heretic in the chin, and the lower - in the sternum. This completely immobilized the victim, not allowing her to make any head movements. The head numbed, hemorrhage began in the brain.

A potential witch was tied to a chair,which was suspended on a long pole, dropping it into the water for a certain time. Then the witch was given the opportunity to take a small breath of air, after which they were again lowered into the water ... This torture was especially cruel during the winter period. An ice hole was made in the ice, which allowed the witch to not only suffocate, but also become covered in a crust of ice!

Instrument of torture №3 - "cat's claw"

In this case, this “tool” was not used.in order to scratch your back. He was thrust into a heretic, whose flesh was torn apart slowly and painfully. It got to the point that this same hook snatched from the victim not only internal organs, but also the ribs. It was probably the most cruel ancient instrument of torture, with which the servants of the Inquisition tried to gain recognition of a heretic!
