Silvery boulevard is one of the streets named after Russian aviation

In 1973, on the site of the former Commandantairfield was built a new residential neighborhood with typical multi-apartment buildings. Silvery boulevard, like many other local highways, in their names retained the memory of the previous object, which had a glorious history.

Territory History

Black river, originating in the swamp,adjacent to the Dolgoye Lake, and flowing into the Bolshaya Nevka, has a rather sad glory in connection with the duel of Alexander Pushkin, which occurred here in 1837. But due to the picturesque nature of the river, its surroundings from the 17th century were built up by government summer residences.

On her left bank was the dacha commandantPeter and Paul Fortress. Therefore, the vast territory belonging to it, and received the name of the Commandant's Field. The area was not empty. In the beginning, there was a Specific Hippodrome, which was later chosen by aviators.

Why so called the boulevard

Modern Silver Boulevard, receivedthe name in honor of the color of the aircraft, crosses the then Commandant's airfield, built with the funds of the "Wings", where in 1910 the first aeronautical holiday was held. Many things have been connected with this air harbor in the history of Russian aviation, known as the "first one" - flight to Kronstadt (1910, a little later in Gatchina), a group flight to Moscow in 1911. Here the idea of ​​creating a parachute was born. The memory of this airfield and its history, designers and pilots, whose activities were associated with it, was preserved not only in the names of the streets of the modern microdistrict (Aerodromnaya, Parashutnaya, Polikarpova, etc.). In the school No. 66 the People's Museum "Ikar" was established.

Tribute to memory

Silvery Boulevard was originally conceived as a tribute to the memory of the former airfield. It should have been planted with silver willows, so that everything here would be associated and resembled the wings of airplanes.

A beautiful unrealized idea.Planned as a boulevard, in essence it remained a rather narrow street. But the name remains, and it is closely connected with the history of the city. Therefore, the address: St. Petersburg, Silver Boulevard, in spite of the novelty of the latter, in its name, like almost all the objects of the northern capital, concludes some information about the historical events of the Russian State.

Heroes of Russia

Military history of Russia is known to several generalsKhrulev, who brought her fame for the last two centuries. But the street in the Primorsky district of St. Petersburg is dedicated to Andrei Vasilievich Khrulev (1892-1962), who became famous for his post of chief of the rear of the Red Army, especially in the first years of the Great Patriotic War. From the street, named after the hero-general, the Silver Boulevard, which ends on Parachute Street, begins. It is built up, mainly, by houses, corresponding to the plans of new microdistricts of 1970.

This zone is quite cozy and has all the necessaryinfrastructure. There are many cafes (there are also quite exotic names, for example, "Khata Magnata") and restaurants ("KavkAsia"), several salons, factories, beauty studios and just hairdressers.

On the Silver Boulevard there are hospitals,children's and adults, and various veterinary services. Do not find a variety of shops, there are video halls and fitness clubs. There are many offices of various companies and comfortable hotels here. For example, at the address: Russia, St. Petersburg, Silvery Boulevard, house 21 there are about 30 objects, which includes almost all the above-mentioned life support centers of the district. And in the house 24-1 there is the Archive of the Navy, in the house 27 (building 2) is located the business center "Silver". And the center of hygiene and epidemiology occupies the building of the 3rd building under number 18. The Silver Boulevard itself runs parallel to Sedov Avenue and Kolomyazhskaya highway, at the intersection of which with Prospect Testers is the nearest (900 meters) metro station to the described metro station "Pionerskaya". The very same Silver Boulevard crosses or comes close to such highways as Prospects Bogatyrsky, Testers, the Queen, the avenues of Polikarpov, Kotelnikov, the streets of Aerodromnaya and Parachute. The city plans to restore the Silvery prospect.
