Lipetsk is a relatively large citylocated in the European part of Russia. Is there an airport in Lipetsk? Sure! And it was founded in 1966. Currently, work is underway on its reconstruction. What airlines are based here? What directions are available to air passengers?
Lipetsk Airport was built in 1966.At this time, it was designed to serve no more than 100 passengers. In 1987, a new airport terminal, designed by Soviet architects Aleksandrov and Trofimova, was put into operation, with a capacity of up to 200 passengers. By the end of the 1990s, passenger traffic fell sharply, so it was decided to use the airport solely for business purposes.
In the 2000s.the aerodrome began to serve passenger air traffic again. In 2004, on the basis of the airport, a state-owned enterprise was created, called Lipetsk Airport. Already in 2006, thanks to the construction of the instrumental landing system, the aerodrome began to receive aircraft in poor visibility, and all divisions of the enterprise were connected by a fiber-optic communication line. In 2008, the airport received admission to serve international passenger flights. However, the first international flight from Lipetsk to Milan took place after 7 years - in 2015.
Renovation and modernization of the airportthroughout its history produced repeatedly. Recent work on the reconstruction of the airport began in 2013. Their cost exceeds 1 billion rubles. The funds were allocated by the federal budget and regional authorities. The project is being implemented by the regional administration and the Ministry of Transport within the framework of the federal program for the development of the transport network of the Russian Federation.
Work involves the modernization of the buildingterminal, the extension of the runway, the construction of the building command and control center, the installation of a light signal system for receiving aircraft under adverse weather conditions, the construction of a new drainage system. In addition, it is planned to reconstruct the old and build new taxiways, including those for special transport, build three ramps for aircraft with a large take-off weight, prepare the site for processing aircraft with de-icing fluid.
At the moment, work is in the final stage. The runway has already been completely reconstructed, a drainage system has been built, the construction of taxiways is being completed.
Today, Lipetsk Airport is equippedonly one strip of asphalt concrete, the dimensions of which are 2.3 km and 45 m in length and width, respectively. The runway has a classification number of 16 / R / B / X / T.
