Vacationers always note unusually lowprices, delicious, healthy and ecologically impeccable cuisine, as well as excellent beaches and winter ski "gurney" in this country. Yes, the mountains here are not the Alps, but here everything is done in order to get maximum pleasure, both from the winter and from the summer holidays. And especially we like our tourists a warm, almost related relation to the Russians, which Bulgaria has preserved.
City of Nessebar, tourist attractions which we will today consider, perhaps, one of the most amazing places in this state.
Nessebar is a city-museum, which is the property not only of Bulgaria, but of all mankind. Imagine that it was founded more than 3,000 years ago!
According to the tourists who visited it, this is a little fairy, almost a puppet town, like a small brave bird, a nest in the middle of the water.
Throughout its long life, this city defended itself in thea fight with a formidable element. Almost half of it for the whole history of existence went under the water and, unfortunately, there are now many related to the 4th century. sights of Nessebar. Bulgaria and the whole world remember about them and try to bring back to the surface at least some of the amazing artifacts.
Nessebar is not far from the famousSunny Beach. It can be divided into two parts: the Old and the New City. Old Nessebar is a very tiny territory, located on a small peninsula, only 800 m long and 300 m wide. On land, it is connected by a narrow isthmus, along which light, water, food, and, of course, the enchanted tourists surround it.
Imagine that there lives onlylittle more than 1000 inhabitants! And since the city has the status of a city-museum, each of them, in fact, is its employee, preserving for the descendants of Nessebar. Photos of the inhabitants of this amazing place and its ancient buildings we bring to your attention in this article.
The town is full of restaurants, souvenirshops, there is also a colorful market, where you can buy products made of leather, fur, silver and clay. All this - a subject of constant enthusiasm of tourists, but the peculiar architecture of this center of history is especially interesting.
The city was once claimed by the Greeks, Byzantines, and Bulgarian princes, and from all of them he took originality, beauty and his amazing atmosphere.
The ruins of fortress walls at the entrance to the city, pentagonal, decorated with towers and gates, are perhaps one of the oldest exhibits of the city museum.
And special attention should be paid herechurches. Once Nessebar was called Balkan Jerusalem, because in this small town there were more than 50 churches. Now, unfortunately, only a fifth of them remained.
The most impressive impression on tourists is made by the St. Stephen's Cathedral.
Most of this cathedral, often calledand the New Metropolia, reconstructed in the 16th century, and the oldest (eastern) part of the building was preserved from the 11th century! Almost completely decorated from the inside with fascinating paintings of the 16th century, depicting the life of the Virgin Mary and various saints, the cathedral will not leave any tourists indifferent. As evidenced by the many admiring reviews. Particular attention should be paid to the magnificent carved iconostasis, preserved from the end of the 16th century.
In connection with the special value of this historical heritage, the church now does not work, it is turned into a museum.
This ancient architectural monument, lost forall the time only a dome and part of the wall, you can not ignore, listing the sights of Nessebar. Bulgaria, like the whole world, considers this church as the pearl of the city. When it was built, bricks were used in combination with a decorative stone, which made this building especially lacy, "openwork". The combination of the facade decorated with the Turkish manner with the Christian canons in the general appearance of the church is also striking.
Now this building houses a small collection of works by local artists.
This church is the only one functioning, itsa gilded dome can be seen from afar. It was built in the late 19th century. (that for such an ancient city is not at all age), but, nevertheless, can safely replenish the sights of Nessebar.
Bulgaria highly appreciates her miraculous icon of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary or, in a different way, the "Black" icon. It is considered the guardian of the ancient city, and it is no accident.
The fact is that not so long ago this icon waskidnapped. All of Nessebar, and the whole country were shocked by such blasphemy! And a wave of unhappiness swept through the city: in the shortest time, 25 young people were killed in car accidents! For a tiny Nessebar - this is a huge figure. Misfortunes ceased as soon as the icon was returned.
As you have probably already seen, the whole oldNessebar is an open-air museum. But there is something in it that needs to be stored under the roof. For this purpose, in 1994, the Archaeological Museum was opened in Mesembria Street, which is also on the list of "Sights of Nessebar". Reviews of its exposition are full of enthusiasm of tourists who touched history.
Here you can see the most ancient exhibits of the Thracian and Roman era, a rich collection of icons and many other amazing antiques.
All this is replenished constantly, since excavations in the city practically do not stop. Much is extracted from the bottom, where, as we have already said, there is a part of the city.
It, by the way, can be considered during a calm, on a clear day. Under the water, ancient columns and ruins of the walls are clearly depicted.
The architecture of the dwelling houses of Old Nessebar isalso a monument. The style of the so-called Bulgarian Renaissance, which is characterized by high bases erected from white stone, used in antiquity as wine cellars with dark wooden upper floors, exposed bay windows and decorated with large wide windows, is capable of fascinating anyone. As a rule, in the interiors of these houses the walls are bleached, and the ceilings are dark, wooden.
Walk past these tightly clinging houses to each other, along cobbled streets - it's almost the same as making a journey in a time machine.
More details about the life of the inhabitants of Nessebar can be found in the local Ethnographic Museum.
Addresses of Nessebar can bemake a long list. What does the church of St. John Aliturghetos (14th century) stand alone? This uninitiated church has its own tragic love story, which the guides tell. Or the Church of the Ascension of Christ (16th century), half dug into the ground at the request of the Turkish authorities, so as not to be higher than a Muslim soldier sitting on a horse. Or dated 5 in. the remains of the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin.
All these are places you can not miss, and in facthow many is not yet named! One can say only one thing - Nessebar, like a magic casket full of jewels. They can be endlessly viewed and admired. And everyone here will find his own, amazing and unique, something that will make you return to this oasis of history many, many times, becoming a true admirer of the small cozy Bulgarian city of Nessebar.
