Petersburg metro station "Parnas" is known to many. And not only, of course, to the residents of the northern capital of Russia, but also to the numerous tourists who come here every year on excursions. What is the reason for such popularity? Let's try to discuss this in more detail.
Parnas metro station belongs to the Petersburgsubway and is the last passenger station of the Moscow-Petrograd line. With her neighbors only the station Prospekt Prosveshcheniya. Also note that the station is located in the Vyborgsky district, in the village of Pargalovo, so the metro Parnas on the map should be searched outside St. Petersburg. It will also be curious to learn that this is the northernmost transport hub of such a plan in Russia. To date, it is a terrestrial indoor station with a width of 60 m and a length of 156 meters.
Interior design is original enough anddevoted to ancient Greek mythology. Art. metro Parnas is decorated with artistic stained glass windows, whose authors are the stained-glass window S. Hvalov and the artists E. Bystrov, A. Bystrov, G. Gulasov. The stained-glass windows are made in a combined mosaic technique: their elements are made of either colored glass or painted with a special paint.
On the main stained glass window depicts the goddess Nika. A large tympanum is decorated with the image of the chariot of Helios, two small tympanas located on the sides of the station - images of the abduction of Europe and the Argonauts.
The very first project of the metro station "Parnas" wasmade in 1991, but he was rejected. In the updated 1995 project, it was proposed to use new composite materials for construction. In 2005, we made a final decision on the construction of the station. Architects Pavlova MV, Khilchenko VG, Romashkin-Timanov NV promptly altered the design of the station in 1995. Under the final design, underground transitions have been replaced by above-ground ones, lifts for people with disabilities and emergency exits have also been added.
The Parnas station should have been built shortly afterthe start of operation of the site "Specific" - "Prospect of Enlightenment." The dates of its opening were postponed due to the protracted construction of the Shuvalovo-Ozerka housing massif, which it was supposed to serve. On December 22, 2006, Parnas was opened as part of the existing Prospect of the Enlightenment section - the Vyborg Depot.
The station was named after the historical district of the same name. According to the project, it was planned to call it Parnassus, but in the end they received Parnas.
The inner walls of the Parnas metro station are laid outwhite marble "Koelga" and decorated with polished inlays of granite. The flooring is made of granite. For the manufacture of suspended ceilings used sand-gray composite material alumobond. The central crossing between the platforms is reinforced by additional trusses and is located above the tracks. It is made in the form of an arch and decorated with stained glass windows.
Facing on the ground is made of gray granite andof red color. External walls are decorated according to the “ventilated facade” principle. Most of the cladding is made of "petropanel", which are designed for both decoration and insulation.
The roof covering is made of special roofing “petropanels”, which are lighter and more convenient to use than traditional reinforced concrete panels.
