An ancient settlement known since the XVI century.In these places there were battles with Crimean Tatars and battles of the Time of Troubles. From there, Soviet troops advanced to the offensive in December 1941 in a western direction. At different times, the Silver Ponds belonged to the princes of Serebryany-Obolensky, Cherkasy, the Sheremetyev dynasty.
At the beginning of the XVII century, Ivan Bolotnikov built a strong point here. Later, supporters of the Zemsky militia, Prince GV Volkonsky, voevoda ND Pilmov, I. Zarutsky and J. Ryndin besieged the Silver Ponds, but did not achieve the desired result.
The city of Silver Ponds stretches on the river Osetr inecologically clean area of the Moscow region. The main activity of the population is agrarian production. Here you can always find natural vegetables from home gardens and fresh livestock products. There are no large industrial enterprises, the city is simply buried in greenery. Dense forests, spacious fields and deep rivers can be safely called natural sights. As already mentioned, the distance Moscow -Silver Ponds is 180 km away. In the neighborhood are Zaraisk and Kashirsky districts of the region. Neighbors can be called the Tula and Ryazan regions. Silver Ponds during its existence and due to peculiarities of geographical location belonged to the Tula region (1939) and was a part of Stupinsky district of the Moscow region (1963). In 2005, the working settlement was transformed into a city settlement.
The population of Silver Ponds is 10 000human. There is everything necessary for life: cafes, shops, post office, banks, beauty salons, a house of culture, temples, schools, kindergartens, art and music schools, Olympic reserve school and two sports schools, a children's creativity house, a hotel.
Among them, a monument and bust to Marshal Chuikov, his house-museum, a monument to the leader of the world proletariat, VI Lenin, a stella to the dead soldiers and a monument to the fallen in hot spots.
In the cultural center "Heritage" there is a museum room of the national artist Sergey Dmitrievich Stolyarov.
There are two magnificent churches in the city:the Temple of the Sign of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in the beginning of the 20th century (more precisely, in 1914) and the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, erected in 1835. Now the reconstruction works of small churches throughout the district are underway.
The road Moscow - Silver Ponds will lead tofederal highway M4 "Don", the village is not far from it. Through the area runs the federal highway M6 "Caspian", leading to Astrakhan, and the Kashira-Silver Ponds-Kimovsk road.
Silver Ponds has a railway stationand bus station. Consequently, for those who like to travel by public transport, you can get here from the capital by train or bus. Travel time is approximately three hours.
The first train through the Silver Ponds passed in 1898.
The distance Moscow - Silver Ponds can be overcome by train from Paveletsky railway station, but, unfortunately, the path is indirect - you will have to change trains at Uzunovo station. The road will take 3.5-5.5 hours. 
Can be reached by passing southern trainsdirections coming from Paveletsky station. Their number increases during the holiday season. Travel time is between three and four hours. The fare will cost 400-500 rubles.
The most accessible form of public transportis the bus. From the metro station "Krasnogvardeyskaya" on the route Moscow - Silver Ponds 10-11 buses leave every day. Ticket prices range from 390-430 rubles. Travel time is three hours.
The bus Moscow - Silver Ponds arrives on Sovetskaya Street, from where you can reach any part of the city on foot or by taxi. The fare for a taxi ranges from 200 rubles.
From the "Red Guard" to the bus station three minuteswalk Exit towards the first car from the center. When you exit through the glass doors of the metro, turn right, go through the underpass about five meters to the left and go up the stairs to the city.
