Apple tree "shtreyfling": description of high-yielding variety

The apple tree "shtreyfling" came to us fromThe Baltic States. If the plant is not in conditions of high humidity of air and soil, this leads to a decrease in the size of the fruit, so in droughty times it needs abundant and frequent watering. In addition, the tree needs a large number of nutrients and proper agricultural technology. In this regard, it is considered the most demanding in comparison with other industrial varieties. Whatever it was (provided it is properly maintained), the apple-tree "shtreyfling", the photo of which is below, constantly gives decent yields of bright large fruits.

The fruiting period of the variety occurs sufficientlylate. In addition, and the yield is very slow. The first single fruits appear in these trees approximately at the age of five. In another five years, apple-tree "shtreyfling" will begin to give an average of 10 kg of apples a year. A large amount of fruit (up to 8 tons per hectare) is unhealthy at the age of about 20 years. The highest yield is typical for 30-year-old trees. At this time from each of them it is possible to collect up to 300 kg of fruit.

Flowering of this variety starts about fivedays after the "anise". As for the pollinators, they often are "Antonovka" and "Papirovka". The most intensive growth of fruits begins immediately after fertilization. It weakens in July. Then in September it becomes stronger again. Apples quite firmly hold on the branches and are green until August, after which they begin to appear characteristic strokes.

Apple tree "shtreyfling" can reach up toeight meters. At the same time, the diameter of its crown reaches seven meters. Attached almost at right angles, the branches usually sag to the ground under the weight of harvest and foliage. This can greatly complicate the processing of the tree under the crown. The latter is dense and has a rounded shape. A lot of buds form from a large number of buds. The large leaves of the plant have a greenish-gray hue and a rounded shape. Yellowish-green apples, after resting, acquire a yellow color with strips. Their flesh has a pinkish hue, it is pleasant to taste.

Against the background of other varieties of apple-tree "shtreyfling"looks very profitable in terms of resistance to diseases and pests. The leaves of the plant are less vulnerable to scab damage than others, and its fruit is less likely to suffer from the fruit moth. Among the advantages of the variety is its high resistance to frost. According to historical data, in all cold winters this species suffered less than others. If the apple tree "shtreyfling" still in winter will suffer from low temperatures (usually it happens with the ends of one-year long shoots), then the process of full restoration will not be so long. It should be noted that the vegetation period plays an important role for a good wintering of the tree. Provided that it occurs at a moderate temperature and suitable humidity, the representatives of the variety accumulate a number of important nutrients that contribute to a painless wintering for the plant.
