The drug "Buserelin-Long" is aan artificial analogue of the natural GnRH hormone. The action of this agent is based on competitive binding directly to the receptors of the pituitary cells and subsequent short-term increase in the level of sex steroids in the plasma, which ultimately leads to complete blockage of the so-called gonadotropic function of the pituitary gland. As a result of the use of the drug "Buserelin-Long" suppression of the synthesis of hormones directly in the gonads, manifested in the form of a decrease in the level of testosterone (before postcastration) in men and a decrease in the content of estradiol in the blood to post-menopausal characteristics in female patients. In the first case, one can speak of pharmacological castration, the second one - about postmenopause or ovariectomy.
