Tools: diamond drills

One of the hardest minerals is a diamond. This is why special diamond drills are used to process a variety of materials characterized by high strength. They are produced by sintering technology, which allows to obtain high-density products.

Today, a diamond drill bit can be manufactured withthe most diverse forms of nozzles: cylindrical, ball, conical and many others. Separate varieties of this tool are used for working with glass or ceramics. Conical nozzles are made, as a rule, with a diameter of sixteen to eighty-five millimeters. They are used when working with glass for grinding holes. The durability of such a tool to the state of wear is about ten to fourteen meters, and in natural stone - nine to twelve meters.

Instruments of this type do not require a permanentcooling and grinding during work. From overheating, they can easily be protected by periodic immersion in a container of cold water. In addition, the use of the tool at low rotational speed is a good help for increasing the temperature during use. Before the start of work, you should definitely nakernit place for the forthcoming drilling.

Modern diamond drills are produced either atthe method of powder metallurgy, or galvanic method. The latter makes it possible to produce tools of absolutely any configuration, but, due to the single-row arrangement of grains, characterized by a rather low degree of sharp edges. The method of powder metallurgy makes it possible to obtain diamond drills having a very high degree of resistance. However, using this method, it is possible to produce only large diameter tools. This is due to the fact that for the strength of the design created requires the presence of gaps between diamond grains, and for small drill sizes, these gaps are equal to the grain sizes, and the tool eventually collapses. The edge resistance and the effectiveness of its application are decreasing.

diamond drilling holes in concrete
Specialists recommend using diamonddrills when performing particularly complex jobs, for which the use of traditional carbide-tipped drills is impossible or difficult. Also, this tool is actively used in everyday life, in the mass production of mirrors, for stone processing and various construction and installation works. For example, diamond drilling of holes in concrete is very common. In addition, tools of this kind are used when working with various particularly hard and hardened alloys, glass and ceramics, as well as in the optical, watch and jewelry industries. Separately it is worth mentioning radio electronics, instrument making, mechanical engineering and all those areas where materials with high hardness are currently used. In this case, only a diamond drill will act as an effective tool for treating holes.
