A new series and a new experience, because previously the Bavarians did not engage in the production of all-wheel drive crossovers. The car received the index X5. The letters indicate the presence of a permanent all-wheel drive. Figure 5 indicates the crossover platform belongs to the fifth series of "BMW". The bodies, of course, were modified to fit the off-road class, but the platform and wheelbase remained unchanged.
The body of the E53 was a breakthrough for the company.It was produced in the USA. In Europe, this model was brought only in 2000. In 2003, this crossover was updated by facelift. This event was timed to the presentation of the younger crossover in the series - X3. Changes affected the front of the car. The first rumors about the new F15 body appeared intime of production of the second generation in 2012. As for the new bodywork of the BMW X5, the changes again came out not quite revolutionary. Again a bumper, optics and small elements. Although the platform was changed, the entire engine line is turbocharged. It includes 4 gasoline and 2 diesel units.
