Romanov Yuri was born in the last year of the GreatWorld War II, in the small town of the Voronezh Region - Povorino. Since childhood, he liked music, so he immediately made a choice in her favor. At that time, cultural figures were not enough. He entered the Voronezh Conservatory, where he studied until 1965. His goal was to become a professional accordionist.

Later he began searching for a place where he could combinetraining and professional activities. Like all bayan virtuosos, he dreamed of performing on stage, but not every conservatory or institute allowed him to work and study. For this reason, he did not complete his studies either at the Voronezh Institute of Arts or at the Gnessins Institute. In 1978 he graduated from the faculty of folk art in the Petrozavodsk branch of the Leningrad Philharmonic Society. There he studied the button accordion in depth, mastered the course of composition and conducting.

A year later he headed the ensemble, which received the Lenin Prize in the field of patriotic music. Later, on the basis of this ensemble, a collective arose with which Yuri Borisovich worked most of his life.

Initially, "Voronezh girls" was an ensemble,created by composer Massalitinov and philharmonic director Galinker in 1966. In 1977, the ensemble was revised. He was united with another team. In recent years, Yuri Romanov combined his work inensemble with teaching. Since 1998, he is a professor at the Department of Folk Instruments of the Voronezh Academy of Arts. To this day, its graduates achieve heights in the world of music and become laureates of international competitions. In 2001, Yuri Borisovich was included in the ranks of the Union of Composers of Russia. At that time he already had health problems, but he did not quit his job.

A musician died at the age of 71.By the time he had been sick for several months already. On parting with the musician, on December 22, 2015, the entire ensemble and many fans gathered. It was decided to arrange a civil memorial service in the main place of work of the composer - in the Voronezh Philharmonic. Until now, his works are performed by the ensemble, and are also used for teaching accordionists.
