Today in our vocabulary there are manyAnglicism, one of them - buzzword "biopic." What it is? A lexeme is derived from the merging of two words - biography (biography) and picture (picture). So biopic means “biographical picture, cinema”. Films about the life and fate of a famous person are, therefore, the biopic films.
A biopic is usually not only built onreal events that happened in the fate of a celebrity, his task - to reconstruct the life path of the individual. Some authors say about biopic that this is an attempt to tell about events and times that had a decisive influence on the fate of a person.
Biopic willingly specializes any"Dream Factory". Hollywood will make such a picture in the spirit of an exciting fairy tale for adults; Russian film companies will try to present the most accurate “report” on the life course of a famous person. In Bollywood, melodramatic and expressive colors will be used to recreate an epic personality, and Japanese cinema will give an extremely rich, tough and original picture.
The first biographical film was released in the1899 A ten-minute biopic "Jeanne d'Arc" by Georges Méliès in the characteristic of silent films pantomime technique narrated about the visions, exploits and martyrdom of the medieval heroine. Since then, the cinema has been continuously filming film biographies. The best biopics are becoming a world heritage and popular source, presenting to the general public the life stories of wonderful people. The eight-part film of 2011 “Dostoevsky” emotionally and figuratively presented the fate of Fyodor Mikhailovich through the prism of the most ambiguous circumstances of his life. The picture was well received by the audience, but literary critics were dissatisfied with it, claiming that, in fact, everything was not so. Well, maybe they know better. The biopic Dostoevsky nonetheless won the Golden Eagle award for best mini-series.
Biographical drama about the fate of Italianexpressionist Amadeo Modigliani shot in 2004 by American Michael Davis. In the picture the viewer meets with another celebrity of the beginning of the last century - Pablo Picasso. The circumstances of Modigliani’s life are shown at the point of intense rivalry between two expressionist titans. The film aroused great interest among the public, and the excellent music created by Guy Farley played a significant role in this.
In 2002 a tape appeared on the screens tellingabout the life and work of Virginia Woolf. The role of the English writer went to the magnificent Nicole Kidman, who was awarded for her "Oscar". The biography of the writer in the film Stephen Daldry elegantly coexists with the stories of two women living in different times - the bored housewife Laura (she lives in 1951) and the editor Clarissa (2001), saving the old passion from AIDS, which is the son of the same housewife. The fates of the three women turn out to be strangely intertwined and somewhat strikingly similar. Biopic was a huge success, it was highly appreciated by fans of intellectual cinema. The film claimed the Academy Award in ten nominations.
