But each of them is unique not only becausebelongs to the brush of Titian. From different cities of Italy, these paintings were brought before they reached the Pushkin Museum. There was no exhibition like this one before.

More than four hundred thousand people looked inMoscow pictures for the sake of which would have to go round the museums of almost the whole of Italy. Almost all of these works are in small towns - one by one. Before showing up in Moscow, these paintings were shown in Rome in the famous Quirinal Palace. However, statistics show that they caused less interest than in Russia. Titian's exhibition in the Pushkin Museum opens with the work Madonna and Child from the Bergamo Museum, created in 1507. This is one of the earliest works of the painter. It is said that the image of the Mother of God with the divine child (which is also called the name of Count Lochis) was written by him at the age of eighteen, when he was still influenced by the style of Giorgione.

Таинственная картина «Крещение Христово» тоже is a landmark for the artist. Titian's exhibition in the Pushkin Museum allows the viewer to see a strange man in black clothes who is watching the main stage. On his hand are two wedding rings, one of which is a sign of his secret vows. Perhaps it is the customer canvases. Whatever the case may be, this work already has all the characteristics characteristic of Titian, including the so-called “sphumato” effect.

Such images have become muses for artists.next generations, such as Rembrandt. Titian's exhibition in the Pushkin Museum opens for us another similar face. "Beauty" - in this later picture we see the same golden-haired type of an unknown lady in rich blue clothes. In addition, the exhibition presents three more portraits, which embodied the artist’s gift to uniquely convey the structure of fabric, facial features and, at the same time, deep psychologism.

Since the artist loved fashion in the eraThe revival of topics related to the mythology of antiquity, Titian's exhibition in Moscow provided the audience with two canvases of this kind - “Danae” and “Venus, which fastens Cupid's eyes”. The artist wrote several variations on the first topic, one of which is in the Hermitage. Exhibited in Moscow, the picture was created by order of the Spanish king. The second picture - playful and at the same time peaceful, painted with an inimitable sense of color and light with large strokes, is considered one of the peaks of the artist's work. And, finally, Titian's exhibition in Moscow ends with two works of religious themes - “The Annunciation” and “The Crucifixion”. The latter work is part of an altar, made for the Dominican church in Ancona. The tragic extravaganza of suffering and hope is conveyed here by a game of color, shadow and light. And the connection of times is expressed in the figure of St. Dominic, who has fallen to a crucifix. Previously, the painting outside of Italy was not exhibited.
