Onegin stanza is the golden stanza of Russia

If the periodically repeating structure of the poem,elegy or poetic novel has exactly fourteen lines and one hundred and eighteen syllables, which means that it is the same Onegin stanza. This number of components is unchanged. This stanza is organic and in small poems, which are a sensual sketch of the plot. Both visually and intonationally, it can be divided into four parts, each of which is characterized by a certain way of rhyme, which contributes to the interest and helps to keep the reader's attention.

Onegin stanza
Onegin stanza is a definite formpoem. Pushkin created it on May 9, 1823, in order to translate the novel "Eugene Onegin" in verse. This form can rightly be called the golden stanza of Russian poetry.

At the heart of the Onegin stanza is the skilfulintertwining of three forms: octave, quatrain and "Shakespeare's" sonnet. The change of male and female rhymes in it is constant and regular. In this case, the first rhyme of the stanza is always feminine (g is the stress on the penultimate syllable), and the last rhyme is the male rhythm (m is the stress on the last syllable).

In this stanza apply a complex, but very harmonious rhyme:

  • the first quatrain is written with words with a closed syllable and a cross rhyme: A (g) - B (m) - A (g) - B (m);
  • in the second quatrain words with a closed syllable and a pair rhyme are used: C (x) - C (x); D (m) - D (m);
  • in the third quatrain at the end of the line you can see words with an open syllable and belted rhyme: E (x) - F (m) - F (m) - E (x);
  • stanza is
    in the last two lines, where on the end of the word with a closed syllable, the rhyme is a pair: Г (м) - Г (м).

It is interesting that such a sequence inLafontaine's poems were of a casual nature: he spontaneously "diluted" her with free rhymes, without accepting the constraint of the pre-set framework. This is very similar to the transformations that evolution creates in order to show the Earth a new kind of gem. This manner of versification was characteristic of the French poets of the 17th and 18th centuries, who wrote ironic works of frivolous content.

Golden stanza is famous for its convenience in embodimentlyric poetic intentions. Especially well it approaches to lyrical poems and substantial elegies. Why in the works of other famous poets, too, used Onegin stanza?

golden stanza
This made it possible to open the event with a storyin verse with the help of famous compositional techniques, which are easy to draw with this line. A unique structure allows you to apply any emotional tonality to the text, the last two lines being ideal for the conclusion.

Onegin stanza is a composition finishedpoem. In the first quatrain the theme of the stanza is hidden; in the second quatrain the action develops; the third characterizes the culmination; and the couplet at the end is a conclusion in the form of an aphorism. Such a composition is convenient for writing poems, in which the form will be repeated many times, thereby prolonging the event line. Therefore, where there are lyrics and large volumes of the work, there is often an Onegin stanza. This diversity in application gives reason to assert that the composition in it is coherent and solid.
