Many people know that when you start the computer, first loaded BIOS, which immediately scans and checks all devices for serviceability and ability to function normally. The BIOS sound signals when Windows is booted are due to an error in the system.
Of course, all of them remember almost unrealistic, so you should always have instructions before your eyes. Or, for example, print this article and use it in the future.
It is worth noting that BIOSes from different manufacturers differ, and, accordingly, sound signals too.
For reference I would like to say, how can you determine the company BIOS, so that youknew, just in case, if something happened, and could correctly identify the initialization error. The name is visible when the PC is booted, or with the help of some programs, for example, Everest (Aida).
Let's start with the old men. I do not think it's worth describing all kinds of signals, but it's worth mentioning only the most basic and often occurring ones.
BIOS signals from IBM:
1 short: POST completed successfully. That is, no errors were found.
Blank screen and 1 signal: the video system is faulty, which means that the information is not displayed on the screen.
2 short ones: the monitor is not connected.
1 long and then 1 short: There are some problems with the motherboard.
1 long and then 2 short ones: the video card has some kind of malfunction (Mono / CGA)
If 1 long and then 3 short: the video card has some kind of malfunction (EGA / VGA)
A short signal that either repeats itself periodically or is simply continuous: some failures or defects in the motherboard or power supply.
If the signal is completely absent, then it means that you do not have a speaker, a motherboard or a PSU.
Signals AMI BIOS:
1 short: POST completed successfully. That is, no errors were found.
1 long and then 1 short: found some problems with the BP.
1 long and then 4 short ones: the video card was not detected.
2 short ones: the printer or the scanner is turned on.
3 long signals: RAM problems. Try reinstalling it or replacing the rulers.
4 short: the system timer failed.
5 short: There are some problems with the processor.
7 short: in mat. The board has a problem.
8 short: the memory of the video card produced an error.
1 long and then 2 short ones: the video card has some kind of malfunction (Mono / CGA)
If 1 long and then 3 short: the video card has some kind of malfunction (EGA / VGA)
1 long and then 8 short ones: No monitor or video card is faulty.
Blank screen and no signal: the processor is out of order, or the bad contact is at its feet.
The signal is continuous: The power supply is defective or the computer is overheated
BIOS signals from Award:
1 short: POST completed successfully. No flaws found.
2 short beeps: only minor interference was detected. It will be necessary to check the contacts and various attachments of loops, hard drives, optical drives and the like.
3 long: error caused by the controller to work with the keyboard.
1 short and then 1 long: error reading or writing information from RAM.
1 long and then 2 short ones: revealed the errors of the video card.
1 long and then 3 short: an error reading or writing information from the video memory.
1 long and then 3 short: error reading or writing data from ROM.
A short signal that periodically repeats: some defects in the power supply unit have been detected.
A long signal that repeats periodically: Problems with RAM.
A repeated sound signal, then on high, then at low frequencies: Problems with the processor.
Continuous signal: Faults in the power supply.
And lastly ... If you have any other version of BIOS, oryou want to know all the BIOS sound signals, then go to the manufacturer's website and see the instruction. If you do not find detailed instructions on such sites, then try to search for more information on the links that are provided in the program Everest.
