Усадьба Салтыкова – это старинное архитектурное a building that is located in the Moscow region. It is located in the village, which was on the border of three provinces. The people said that the village was at the meeting (or at the corner), which was reflected in the name of this locality. Here was built the Church of the Savior-Transfiguration, which is the main attraction of the complex.
For the first time the village was noted in the scribe book 17century. The estate, located here, belonged to the famous Russian satirist writer Mikhail Evgrafovich, who was born here and lived for ten years. But later he did not forget his native place, periodically visiting his native village, the image of which was captured in one of his famous works.
Усадьба Салтыкова – это уникальный памятник Russian noble life of the time of serfdom, which is reflected in the current composition of the museum located here. It includes a manor estate, a landscape park, as well as a family graveyard of the famous writer's family. Of particular interest are objects of everyday life of the family, which give an idea of the living conditions of noblemen-landowners of the first half of the 19th century.
The main architectural landmarkis the Church of the Savior-Transfiguration. It is made of stone and is surrounded by a fence. In the church there is a bell tower and corner towers, which are made in the style of classicism with baroque elements of the late 18th century. In the first half of the next century, a refectory and a three-tiered bell tower were added.
This beautiful church, undoubtedly, is the main decoration of the architectural complex. The Saltykov estate also attracts visitors by the fact that it has a chapel, a mile post and a holy spring.
The estate has a beautiful park withmagnificent plantations. Lime alleys give the area a special poetry and beauty. In the 19th century ponds were an integral part of the rich aristocratic estates. Saltykov's estate was not an exception. Visitors will undoubtedly be attracted by a beautiful view of the manicured reservoirs in the frame of the alleys. Historians may be interested in a memorial stone installed on the territory of the estate in honor of the famous Russian scientist D. Mendeleyev, who in 1887 landed in this place in a balloon after the flight, during which he studied the eclipse of the sun.
The estate of Saltykov-Shchedrin in 1918 passed intostate property: it was taken over by a special commissariat, which dealt with territorial sections in the district. However, the special commission on agriculture allowed the descendants of the writer to stay in the estate, since one of them fought during the Civil War, and the other was an advocate of Soviet power. In the estate, they built a school and a tea-house, which lasted only a short time, since very soon the house was badly damaged in the fire. From the fire, only the garden and the remnants of the basement survived. Also managed to save the side wing and small annexes.
Over the 20th century, the image of the estate was fairlystrong changes, however visitors of the complex and today can see a lime avenue and ponds, which have not touched either time or fire. So, the park, Saltykov's estate demanded urgent measures for renovation, and such measures were taken in the second half of the last century.
In the 1950s and 1970s, Soviet powerdeveloped a plan to create a museum on the site of the estate of a famous writer. At first, his bust was set here, and a year later, dedicated to the writer, it was decided to recreate the historical and memorial complex on the site of the house. First and foremost, the church was restored and its appearance as it had in the 18th century was recreated as much as possible. Then a special art group took up the interior, which is noteworthy in that it recreates the image of "Poshekhon antiquity". Currently, there is a question of restoring the writer's house, where the museum itself is planned to be moved.
