Policy functions in society

The functions of politics in society determine its roleand importance as an institution of social. The number of them is unstable. The more numerous the functions of politics in a particular society, the less this society is developed. The society is a system of interaction of different spheres of human life activity. Ideally, it is internally coordinated, balanced. The needs for each sphere are realized through methods inherent only to it. For example, the economic system, using the material interest of the producer, satisfies the population's need for goods of wide production, in food products. However, in societies of transitional or traditional all spheres are subject to political. Thus, it compensates for the underdevelopment of other areas of life. The social functions of politics, which she performs in this case, are not entirely hers. It interferes too much in all spheres of civil society, right up to its replacement. Due to this influence, opportunities for self-realization of the person are sharply limited. This phenomenon is typical for societies that develop with the help of political and ideological methods. They can achieve great success, despite a limited range of resources. In such societies the use of violence and the inspiration of fear form the external motivation for work. And internal motivation (needs, interests) is not taken into account at all.

The functions of politics in modern society are also numerous. But we can single out only a few basic ones, without which society can not develop normally.

  1. The function of ensuring its stability andintegrity. Its essence lies in the fact that politics determines for the future projects, guidelines and a vector of the development of society. It also provides resources for the implementation of the planned.
  2. The function of mobilizing joint activity and itseffectiveness. Politics formulates the goals of gradual development, which have value and value. To ensure their implementation, it motivates the individual, giving him the opportunity to enable him, with the help of the authorities, to satisfy his social needs or change his status in society.
  3. Regulatory and management policy functions.This means that it expresses the needs and interests of various social groups relevant to the authorities and having significance. Thus, politics by means of decision-making in their sphere influences them and guarantees their interaction. Also influencing the interest of certain groups, it through social violence and coercion controls processes in society, regulates them.
  4. Rationalization function.It is expressed in the fact that the policy creates common mechanisms and rules for the representation and realization of the interests of a specific individual or groups. Thus, it civilizedly warns or settles possible contradictions and conflicts, that is, rationalizes them.
  5. Function of political socialization.It manifests itself in the inclusion of the individual in social relations, in giving her experience, abilities to transformative actions, to the effective fulfillment of her roles. Thus for realization of interests of groups and individuals huge opportunities are opened.
  6. Humanitarian function. It is expressed in the fact that a person acquires the guarantees of his rights and freedoms. In addition, society ensures peace, order and organization.

Of course, this is not all functions of politics.They are supplemented and refined depending on its type. For example, the functions of fiscal policy, as part of the financial policy, are to centralize some of the GDP in the state budget and the impact of taxes on different aspects of the activity of their payers
