A vapor barrier film is a material thatused for decorating roofs with different types of coatings. Its main function is to protect the insulating layer from water vapor, which can rise during washing, bathing, cooking and other household operations.
In the Soviet Union, such material as specialvapor barrier film, virtually absent. At best, a polyethylene film was used on the roofs, and often only roofing, asphalt resin or roofing felt. New materials appeared after the start of construction of elite cottages, where the most advanced technologies were required.
Among them today we can distinguish reinforcedpolyethylene materials of increased strength, which can be used for both steam and waterproofing. Non-perforated film is predominantly used for vapor barrier. As a reinforcing base fabric or a special mesh is used.
In some cases, when the room is isolatedhas high temperature and humidity (bath, kitchen, sauna, swimming pool), requires a special vapor barrier film. In this case, you should use plastic films that are laminated with aluminum foil on the inside.
Such material as a vapor barrier film, installation of which is not difficult, must be present at the construction of any roof. Since the lack of a vapor barrier significantly affects the thermal insulation characteristics of the room, because the thermal insulation wetted from the bottom has a higher level of heat outflow. The film is laid on top of the insulation on the rafters and is attached with staplers or nails. The overlaps must be insulated with a vapor-proof film. The joints arrange with sealing tapes. Generally, waterproofing, a counter grille to provide an air gap, lathing and the roofing material itself (metal tile, roofing iron, soft, bituminous, composite roofing, etc.) are placed on top of the film.
The vapor barrier film Yutafol isclassic building material. It is available both with an aluminum layer (Yutafol NAL), and without (Yutafol N). The material consists of reinforced mesh, polyethylene material laminated on both sides. The film is suitable for arranging the attic space under a flat and sloping roof. The product is certified. The dimensions of the roll are 1.5 to 50 meters, the material thickness is 0.17-0.22 mm for an ordinary film and 0.3 mm for a film with an aluminum layer. Yutafol is a long-playing material. It is believed that a properly laid film will last on average as much as the average of any roof covering. And the inclusion of special components provides low flammability.
In addition to optimizing the thermal insulation of a building, a vapor barrier film saves money, because its flooring significantly extends the service life of the insulation.
