Topiary call artfully trimmed crownstrees that adorn gardens and parks. Especially this decorative haircut is popular in Western Europe, and it came into fashion in the XVIII century. Slender rows of perfectly smooth shrubs, squares, lozenges stretched along the avenues and created mazes in regular parks near palaces and castles. Currently, topiary is an ornamental artificial tree, which is made of a wide variety of materials for interior decoration. Moreover, the shapes, sizes and appearance of these works of floral art are the most diverse, it all depends on the skill and creative ideas of their creator.
Topiary is not an imitation of a living tree, nota small copy of it, it is a completely independent in its own idea product, which sometimes has the most fantastic, bizarre forms. For the manufacture of its crowns often use natural materials: dried fruits and large seeds, flowers, cones, leaves, shells, and various spices that housewives use in cooking. Artificial trees, collected from fragrant plants, are not only an ornament, but also aromatize the room, giving off a light pleasant smell. In addition to natural, often in the manufacture of such trees using artificial materials: flowers and twigs, glass beads and beads, twisted cord, satin ribbon, etc.
Topiary of leaves and flowers can be made fromnatural dried material (autumn leaves collected in the garden, immortelle flowers, which retain their shape and color for a long time). A round ball made of floristic sponge, foam rubber, nylon stocking stuffed with cotton wool is taken as the basis for the crown. A children's toy is also suitable - a small plastic ball.
This base is placed on the stem, which isa branch from a tree, planed and painted in the desired color, fixed in a pot with the help of diluted gypsum in water. The ball-base for the crown is pasted over with leaves and flowers, starting from the top, in a circle and up to the stem, or (if it is made of floristic sponge or foam rubber) simply stick short petioles of prepared dried plants into it. If you decide to work with glue, then attach the elements should be a certain way. We stick only the lower part of the sheet with a sticky compound. Then, after gluing, its top will lag behind the surface of the base, and the crown will turn out to be more fluffy and natural. Leaves should be applied a little overlap, one on another, so that there is no gap between them. If you just stick the scapes into the sponge, also do it tightly, without leaving any voids. After the bead-crown is completely covered with leaves and flowers, the composition is decorated, bringing it to perfection using satin ribbons, beads, etc. The surface of the pot with frozen gypsum is covered with colored pebbles, sisal threads, shells or dried moss. In order for the topiary to serve as a room decoration for a long time, it is coated on top with a special Dried Flower Spray dust or ordinary hairspray.
It's easy to make a coffee topiary with your own hands. To this end, large coffee beans are glued to the base-crown, tightly covering the entire surface. To make the gaps between the grains invisible, the ball for the crown is first painted in a coffee-brown color. This topiary is a wonderful room flavor. In order for the coffee to retain its fragrant smell, you should not varnish the product. If a moisture-resistant glue is used for gluing the grains, then the dust can be easily washed off with warm water. Golden beads or artificial roses, elegant transparent twigs, colored feathers, etc. are used as decor.
Tabletop or floor (high) topiary is not a simple decoration of the room. This stylized tree has a deep symbolic meaning; it is no coincidence that it is also called the “tree of happiness”.
