The maximum data transfer rate here is 150 Mbps, while the wired part of the network boasts only 100 Mbps. Finally, it should be noted that the router supports only three versions of the Wi-Fi technology: b, g, and n.

Device Description

The front panel of the router displays the display panel. It consists of 8 LEDs:

• The first one shows the presence of food. It is turned off when there is no voltage on the device, it blinks during its loading and glows continuously during operation.

• Reset, Power and WPS buttons.
• One input port and four LAN ports to create a wired segment of the computer network (for example, to connect an IPTV set-top box).

Find out the parameters in advance

Before you start setting up the router, you need to accuratelyfind out the parameters of connection to the provider’s equipment. This information is usually specified in the contract for the provision of data transmission services. You can also find it on the official website of the telecommunications service operator and by calling the customer support. Then we find out the parameters that need to be entered in the Asus RT-N10P. Setting "Rostelecom" -connections, for example, requires the installation of the following values:

• The type of connection in this case is PPPoE.
• Also set the login and password (they must be different from those used to connect to the network and specified in the contract).

All other parameters remain unchanged in the Asus RT-N10P. Setting "Beeline" -connection provides such parameters:

• The type of connection in this situation is L2TP.
• The IP address is obtained automatically, in the same way as the DNS server address.

Connect the router to configure

First you need to build a temporary scheme forAsus RT-N10P parameter settings. Tuning can be performed on a permanent scheme, but it is not always physically realizable. Therefore, it is recommended to configure this device in 2 stages. The first of them is a temporary connection and setting of all parameters, and the second is the transfer of the router to a permanent place and the collection of an already stationary computer network scheme. The procedure for collecting a temporary scheme is as follows:

• We have a number of PCs and a router.
• We connect them using a twisted pair cable that came with the network device.
• We install the power supply unit of the router to the nearest outlet (if not, then use the carrier), and the plug at the end of its wire to the advising port on the back of the network device.

First power up and program setting

Then setting up the Asus RT-N10P router requires setting the program parameters that needed to be determined in advance. But the order of making values ​​in this case is as follows:

• The router and personal computer are turned on. We are waiting for the download of each of them.
• Then run any of the installedInternet browsers on PC. In its address line, enter four three-digit numbers that must be separated by a dot. The first of them is 192, the second is 168. The last two values ​​are absolutely the same - 001. This is the network address of the router. After that, you must confirm the input. To do this, press the "Enter" key.

If this is the first time the router is turned on, then in both fields we type the same phrase: “admin”. Then you need to hover the pointer on the button labeled "Login" and make a single click of his left button. A bit more complicated task if you are not the first owner of this router. For this, it is enough to hold the button labeled "Reset" for 10 seconds.
• Next, a window will open with the name:"Welcome". In its left column will be only three points. The first is to verify the connection is correct. You can skip it in this case. Then there will be an “Internet setting”. Here we go and set the parameters from the provider that were clarified earlier, that is, the connection type, login, password and other data specified in the service agreement. The last item is “Router Settings”. Here you need to set the name of the wireless computer network, as well as the password to connect to it. Do not forget to set the encryption method. It is strongly recommended to choose WPA2. It is he who guarantees the maximum degree of protection.
• After making all the changes do not forget to save them. To do this, you must click once on the button of the same name on the right side of the screen.
  

After that, you can turn off the computer and completely disassemble the temporary scheme.

Permanent installation and connection

Next, you need to install on a permanentPlace Asus RT-N10P. Setting up its software component is fully completed. You just need to put it on a permanent place, connect and check the correct operation of the network. The installation site of the router must meet four criteria:

• There should be a 220 V outlet nearby to provide power to the device.
• The wire from the provider should easily and easily reach here.
• The router should be as close as possible to the center of the room. This will provide the best signal quality.
• From the rest of the premises it should not be fenced with metal sheets or structures. If this is not taken into account, the coverage area will be significantly reduced.

• Go to the settings and find the item called "Wireless Networks". Turn on "Wi-Fi" and perform a scan of available wireless connections.
• Then in the list we select the name of our network (it was set in the previous stages) and connect to it.
• Then you need to enter a password to connect.
• Next, run any of the Internet browsers that is installed on your mobile device. In its address bar, enter any address and get the start page of this Internet portal.

Check wired LAN segment

Configuring IPTV

A technology such as IPTV is also implemented in the Asus RT-N10P. The IPTV connection is configured as follows:
