The capital is home to more than twelvemillions of inhabitants. This fact causes a great need in places of burial of the deceased - cemeteries. There are quite a few in the capital, and some of them are unique sights.
One of the cemeteries in the southern part of the Moscow regionis called Shcherbinsky. This is due to the fact that next to it is the town of Shcherbinka. Shcherbinskoye cemetery is located in Podolskyarea of the south of the Moscow region in an area of about 90 hectares. Thus, it is one of the largest cemeteries in the capital, although it is not a record holder in this sense. For burials, the Shcherbinskoye cemetery was opened in 1982, and a plot can still be purchased on its territory.
Structurally cemetery complex near Shcherbinkais divided into two parts: southern and central. Actually, the Central Shcherbinskoye cemetery is the main one, opened in the early eighties in the Soviet Union. But the Southern cemetery, which is now also part of the Shcherbinskoye funeral complex, is the fruit of its expansion in 1997. It provides the complex with an additional 30 hectares of land. Together, these two parts are segmented into almost a hundred sites intended for burial.
In addition to the graves of the Shcherbinskoye cemetery on its territory has an Orthodox church. To be more precise, it is a chapel in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity, which is part of the jurisdiction of the clergy of Zakharya Church.

On the southern part of the cemetery there is a plot of 1.2 hectares, intended for the burial of Koreans and Buddhist worshipers. Also on the territory of the cemetery is a Kurdish site.

Visit the Shcherbinskoye cemetery in hisofficial hours of work. From early May until the end of September, the complex's mode is as follows: from 9 am to 7 pm. In the season from early October to the end of April, visits are limited from 9 am to 5 pm. Burial places in the cemetery territory are made daily, starting with the opening and until 17:00 hours daily, without days off.
To get to the Shcherbinsky cemeterypublic transport, you can take a bus that departs from the metro station "Yuzhnaya". From October 1 to the end of March it runs from 08:30 to 16:00. From April 1 until the end of September, the bus schedule is extended for three hours in the evening, that is, until seven o'clock in the afternoon. And on weekends the work schedule also starts earlier - from 07:00 in the morning.
To get to the cemetery on your owncar, you need to go to Varshavskoe highway and, after passing MKAD, travel 7.5 kilometers to the appropriate signpost. After this, turn right and go straight. The total distance from MKAD to Shcherbinsky cemetery is about eleven kilometers.
