The official language of Germany is German.However, in Germany there is a large number of dialects. They are: Bavarian and Swabian, Frisian and Mecklenburg, and many others. According to statistics, almost six million people in various degrees speak Russian in Germany. Half of them are immigrants from the former USSR.
Most of the inhabitants of the FRG (about fiftyfive million people) adheres to the Christian faith. Almost half of them are Catholics, and the remaining citizens are Protestants, and only a small number (1 million) profess Orthodoxy. In addition, the country is home to Muslims (2.6 million), as well as adherents of Judaism (88 thousand).
The population of Germany has a high standard of living.It is on the tenth place among the states of the world community. The unemployment rate according to official bodies is seven percent of the number of able-bodied citizens.
