The Gospel is the "Good News". What was the message and why did people react so sharply?
The main idea that believers shouldto understand from the Gospel: God is always with Christians, he helps, supports. He loves people so much that he incarnated, he accepted the death of the cross for their sake. Then He, of course, was resurrected, because it is God. This is the essence of Christian teaching, the essence of the gospel.
And if earlier the Jews had dedicated ritualswhole volumes of inspired books, then Jesus died, leaving virtually no tradition behind him. The apostles, however, once noticed this omission and asked Him to teach the disciples to pray. Jesus responded with a very short prayer, which is now known to all Christians of the world - "Our Father".
This prayer, like many others, is translated into national languages, there is a prayer "Our Father" in Russian too.
It begins, like the Church Slavonic variant, with treatment. "Our Father" in Church Slavonic and "Our Father" in Russian. Appeal is understandable in any case: God is treated as the Father. But the sacral language of prayer differs from the usual everyday language. It is unlikely that someone will approach his father with the word "Father". Such treatment is a sign of the deepest respect, reverence and even admiration. "If you are" is a grammatical form, nothing more. Yesi - the verb of being and existence.
Does the inner sense of the word "heaven" and "heaven" differ from each other?
Somewhat different. The sky is something astronomical, and heaven is a spiritual concept, so the prayer "Our Father" in Russian, if not distorts, impoverishes meaning.
Next comes: "Hallowed be Thy Name." In most translations this part is unchanged, but sometimes it is reproduced as "Let Your Name be sacred".
"Will be holy" is a verb in the return form, and thismeans that the action is performed by the object itself. That is, the Name of God itself is "holy", regardless of whether it is sacred for someone or not. The prayer "Our Father" in Russian substitutes meaning.
The next few lines in the texts do not differ. The biggest difference in the phrase about "daily bread".
The most important sacrament for the Orthodoxis the Eucharist. At this moment, bread and wine turn into the Body and Blood of Christ. This is exactly what is said in prayer. A vital bread is not a loaf or a loaf, it's the sacrament. But the prayer "Our Father" in Russian says "give us for every day", that is, translates this phrase into ordinary, everyday. It is no longer a conversation about the great sacrament with God, but planning of purchases.
The words of the prayer "Our Father" are sung on eachLiturgies, they are sung before meals and repeated at every prayer. The meaning of prayer should be understood, of course, but it is still better to read it in Church Slavonic.
The neophytes, for the first time crossing the church threshold, they want to understand everything in the church life. They, of course, need a translation of the prayer "Our Father", an explanation of the meaning. Many complain about the complex and incomprehensible language of church prayer. In fact, the prayer "Our Father", the translation of which is easy to obtain, is clear and without special explanations, and in general the Church Slavonic language is very similar to Russian. If you learn literally a hundred words, the whole service will become understandable and simple.
