So it turned out that the castle settled down unpleasant old men and old women. The rest of the beggars settled near the old chapel where, according to rumors, there was a whole network of dungeons. The reputation of these homeless people is not good, and all the inhabitants of the city knew that when they approached, they had to hide their wallets. The main thing was a certain Tyburtius Drab - either an impoverished aristocrat, or a former servant of a wealthy student, who picked up knowledge instead of a master. He often read from memory in taverns excerpts of ancient philosophical treatises and Latin, for which he received drinks and coppers. Tyburtsiya has a son and a daughter. The first is a seven-year-old, tall, and the girl, Sonya's age, is small and weak. Basil met with the children of the king of the poor from the dungeon.

He is angry, but allows them to communicate with the condition of respect for the secrets of the dungeon. Meanwhile, Vasya begins to understand a lot ... Beggars have a good dinner only in one case: they manage to steal something. The boy is sure that stealing is bad, but he is so sorry for the small, painful Marusya ... Autumn is coming. Marusya completely weakened. Small, always very sad. Once, Vasily told Sonya about her and the girl, pitying Marusya, allowed her contemporaries to bring her own beautiful and valuable doll to her contemporaries. For a while.
